I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor. I have over 12 years experience providing individual therapy, group therapy all across Michigan to our community youth and adults, including those with Special Needs. I have started up 2 successful mental health programs in the city of Detroit. I now work in a small private practice to continue my passion of providing therapy and behavior modification to the community. There are times when we need a little help getting through the anxiety, worry and other stressors that pull us down. The function of counseling is a journey of self-exploration, meant to increase the level of self-understanding and self-awareness. Everyone has experienced trauma: either "small-t trauma" such as grief/loss, verbal abuse/bullying, injuries/illnesses, or instability in the home or "large-T trauma" such as rape, assault, physical/sexual abuse, or debilitating injury/illness. As a result of trauma, some individuals experience disruptive memories and/or emotional distress from current situations. I assist clients in gaining insight on their situations as well as the development of specific skills and behaviors that will help to reduce emotional distress.
