At The Anxiety Center of Houston, Dr. Jenny Burkholder provides treatment for anxiety issues, such as Generalized Anxiety (GAD), Social Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD), Postpartum Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Phobias, and other anxiety related problems. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., but only about 37% of those suffering receive any sort of treatment. Your anxiety may not go away on its own and may get worse over time. Seek help; it may be easier to treat if addressed early.

After years of teaching and mentoring students, I followed my dream and became a Counselor. In therapy, I allow clients to share the stories and work on the challenges they feel compelled to explore. Reaching-out for help can be difficult, but in taking that first step, the client is well on the road to regaining resiliency and practicing wholeness. I have a special interest in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder as well as spiritual issues and personality disorders. I have worked with clients on a variety of mental-health issues including anxiety, depression, chemical dependency, mood disorders, anger management, trauma and loss, and behavioral and impulse-control issues. My training is primarily based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, and I am working toward certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Although change is inevitable, it’s not often an easy task. Through my coursework and personal life experiences, I have learned that people do have the power to change. It’s this knowledge that inspired me to be a therapist. I help clients realize the possibility of changing their story by enhancing their lives and relationships in healthy ways. ​ As a post-modern therapist, my approach and techniques stem from Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Collaborative Language Systems. I believe that long-term, lasting change requires a re-organization of the system.
