I believe that counseling is first and foremost a relationship. As any good relationship is based on trust, so effective counseling is also based on trust. Trust develops when people feel accepted and supported no matter what their circumstances, and when they know the other has their best interests at heart. Honest communication is essential to the therapeutic relationship. For clients this means not withholding information that is difficult to discuss. For the counselor, this means giving honest feedback.

Some counselors view each problem and solution through the lens of one theory. Because not all clients respond well to the same approach, I utilize elements of multiple styles. This does not mean I am an expert in every style of counseling; rather it means I have developed a unique style that incorporates aspects of several different perspectives.

My desire is to help the client to become the best possible version of themselves. I strive to treat each person as a unique individual, worthy of unconditional acceptance and journey with them, challenging and encouraging them to find healing emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Circle of Security Parenting Training

Circle of Security Parenting Training is a program developed to educate caregivers on the needs of children as they go out to explore and come back in to the caregiver. It stresses the importance of emotional support in the development of a child. It allows caregivers to identify areas where they are doing well and also areas where they struggle with parenting. Examples are shown regarding effective practices when handling child upset. Caregivers will learn to recognize when a rupture in their relationship with the child has occurred as well as how to repair the relationship.

Infant Massage Education

Infant Massage Education is a series of 5 sessions, each building on the previous session. While I demonstrate on a doll, parents and their babies experience a unique bonding time that strengthens attachment while stimulating the functioning of the baby's systems and increasing learning and concentration. Infant Massage helps relieve gas, colic & teething discomfort, in addition to constipation, muscle tension and cramps. Relaxation results in improved sleep patterns, emotional regulation & reduction of stress in the home. This interaction can result in increased verbal/nonverbal communication, development of trust and confidence and most importantly, feelings of love, respect & being valued.
