Cathy Roberts, MS, LCPC, Counselor in Rockville
I believe connection is the most powerful tool we have for healing emotional distress. Through individual, couple, and group therapy, I offer you deep listening and understanding. You have the opportunity to heal from the past, explore new behaviors in the present, and have more hope for the future. I especially like working with, 1) people over 40 who have it all and are still unhappy, 2) people frustrated by unsatisfying relationships with spouses, aging parents, and adult children, 3) people facing a spiritual/religious conflict or challenge, 4) all who are exploring the impact of racism on their lives.
I wish for you vitality. You may or may not feel happier, less stressed, or have an amazing breakthrough. You are likely, over time, to feel more confident being yourself, to be more assertive, to like yourself more, and to feel capable of dealing with whatever comes your way.
My advanced training includes end of life care, adoption, groups, spirituality, psychodynamic, and experiential psychotherapies. I work for racial justice and co-founded an Institute (to open in 2017) that provides workshops and trainings on history and bias to mental health providers and the general public.
