Cathy Carr
Marriage & Family Therapist, MA, LMFT
I have been fortunate to spend the past 26 years working with children and their families-initially as a middle school teacher and now as a LMFT. I'm dedicated to helping my clients have the tools they need to successfully navigate the challenges in their lives. I work with families and individuals struggling with unhealthy communication patterns, major life transitions, grief, trauma, anxiety/depression, defiance, and sibling rivalry. I believe in the power of relationships to heal, so my main focus is on creating a strong working alliance with my clients. Parenting classes, consultations, and new moms' groups offered.
Because of my experience as a middle school teacher, I bring a unique and deep understanding of the types of developmental, emotional and social issues middle schoolers experience. I specialize in providing a space for adolescents to feel valued and respected so they can capitalize on their strengths.
I also specialize in working with couples as they navigate the developmental stages of their relationships. I also love supporting moms suffering from postpartum issues. Becoming a mom can be an isolating and overwhelming experience, so in my work with parents I offer non-judgmental support about the many demands (and joys) of this major life transition.
