I take a strengths-based narrative approach to therapy, affirming your natural ability to reflect on your past experiences so you can move forward with new insight and agency. I often work with individuals around issues of self-worth, anxiety and depression, gender and sexual identity, intimacy, relationship issues, and self-expression.
When working with couples, I seek to identify negative relational cycles that are getting in the way of connection, and help find new ways of relating to each other that address each partner's fundamental needs.
I also offer clinical supervision to therapists-in-training.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent a decade with storytelling nonprofit The Moth, where I helped people connect to one another and to themselves through telling personal stories. That experience has greatly shaped my approach to mental health; I aim to help you make meaning of your past experiences and gain a new sense of ownership over your life story.
I also believe that sometimes insight alone is not enough for true change to occur, so I draw upon an experiential, somatic approach - I'm trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). When working with couples, I draw primarily on my training in EFT-C (Emotion-Focused Therapy for Couples).
