I believe in a strengths-based approach to therapy, tapping into an individual’s existing skills and inherent traits while building positive patterns of thought and behavior. I combine cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing with a variety of creative art- and play-activities to help young clients explore and manage their emotions, set personal goals and boundaries, and develop healthy relationships with their friends, families and, most importantly, themself.
I have experience working with children of all ages, in a variety of outpatient settings. My primary areas of focus include children and adolescents, grief and loss, interpersonal communication and social skills, peer conflict, school-related stress and school avoidance, self-esteem, social pressures, anxiety and depression.
It can be heartbreaking to watch children navigate the numerous stressors they face today. I work to build trust and mutual respect with young clients so they feel safe sharing their experiences and exploring their feelings, and collaborate with parents and other supports to ensure the children have the tools they need to build a healthy and fulfilling life.
