Did you know that the most important part of communication is invisible! It is more than words, gestures, and tone. It is called “mentalizing.” Mentalizing is a genetic brain network used for making sense of what people say-it helps us understand the mental states of others and thus, know how they might respond to us. Genetic variations in this brain network can lead to great skill or mild to severe difficulties in communication effectiveness. A person can have average to superior intelligence and still have difficulty understanding the mental states of others. Connection with others may be difficult to establish or preserve.
Over three decades I designed and perfected a "Genuine Inquiry" approach for adults w/ Aspergers Syndrome, mild autism, similar neuro-diverse presentation or anyone with communication challenges. "Genuine Inquiry" focuses on difficulties that remain after other interventions have been tried and provides tools for bridging communication differences as equals!
Communication differences are as real and natural as fingerprint differences. They are difficult for people to understand because they are invisible to both the sender and the receiver of communication. This group is educational and solution-oriented for home or workplace communication challenges. Research has found that knowledge about how others communicate improves over time; so groups are formed based on degree of knowledge about communication differences. This knowledge may be difficult to apply in spontaneous situations. There is limited teaching on communication diversity. Thus, there may be moments where you feel deeply misunderstood by loved ones. Relationships my end and avoidance of others may increase. "Genuine Inquiry" will offer you a way to bridge differences between yourself and others. Tools are customized to your individual communication pattern. Questions welcomed.
