We all face adversity from time to time. Often this leads to feeling overwhelmed, depressed, or anxious. For many, life's trials take the form of trauma, leaving people feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and broken. Sometimes the death of a loved one or other losses can lead to feeling isolated and alone and to the belief that no one wants to hear your pain. Because I employ a strength-based, trauma-informed perspective, I see my clients' issues not as evidence of what’s wrong with them, but as skills that helped them cope and survive.
As a therapist, my goal is to create a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment where clients can process through adversity, grief, and trauma; find healing; and learn to appreciate their strengths. To help clients meet their goals, I use various modalities that are based on evidence and grounded in psychology and neurobiology.
No one should have to take this journey of healing alone. You already did that when you lived through what happened. I will walk along side you offering safety, support, and collaboration in this therapeutic process. And, on occasion, we can talk about how great dogs (and cats) are.
