Whether you're needing to experience relief from anxiety, depression, past trauma, or a current difficult situation, counseling can help bring us out of stagnation and onto the path of change in a compassionate and non-judgmental atmosphere. I enjoy helping people identify what thoughts and behaviors are helpful in building satisfying lives and which may have once proved useful, but no longer work for them. Taking small steps, while being kind to ourselves when we make mistakes, can create the kind of change that we want to see in our lives.
As a counselor, I draw mainly from Cognitive Behavioral and Person-Centered therapies. I have also been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a treatment approach where clients safely reprocess traumatic information using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tones, tapping).
For adolescent and adult clients, I am sometimes able to provide the option of "walk and talk" counseling where our counseling session takes place outside while taking a walk. It's a wonderful way to get some light physical exercise during your counseling session as well as an opportunity to practice mindfulness-based skills.
