As a native of Iredell County, it is my privilege to counsel individuals who live here and in surrounding areas. Past experience includes working with adults of all ages, couples, children and teens. I particularly enjoyed working with teens in an alternative school setting. I have also counseled individuals struggling with OCD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, parenting issues, low self-esteem, and developmental disabilities. I especially empathize with the DD population due to personally experiencing many of the struggles faced by having a daughter who was born with Spina bifida.

I work with individuals dealing with life transitions, medical related issues, mood and affective disorders, and marriage, parenting or family issues. I use a narrative and solution focused approach to collaboratively work with clients to identify successful solutions to problems and how these strengths can be implemented in future situations. I utilize empirically supported techniques that focus on the ways in which individuals think about and respond to events. These interventions allow clients to restructure their thinking, process events and modify behaviors in more adaptive ways.

I work with adolescents, young adults, and families who are struggling with anger, depression, anxiety, ADHD, Family Conflict, and stage of life decisions (including “failure to launch”). I believe in the power of experience and self-discovery to lead towards living a better life. I focus on helping clients explore community, family, and other support, as well as developing skills for healthy communications to foster independence and self-confidence. My career has been centered in guiding folks through difficult life transitions, peer issues, family conflict, and challenges in school, home, and in outdoor settings.

At Emerge Child and Family Counseling we provide mostly a client centered approach to counseling to ensure our clients get the therapeutic services they need. We can utlize EMDR, CBT, DBT, Play Therapy, as well as other approaches. We are a full practice serving all ranges of clients with a focus on adults, children, teens, and support their families. We have multiple clinicians to fit with our clients to provide counseling where each person can build trust and foster a nurturing relationship. We are a smaller more focused practice where you feel more like family and welcomed, making treatment the most effective.

Our licensed therapists have extensive training and experience in issues affecting adults, couples, children, adolescents and their families. We also offer extensive effective parenting training if your child is oppositional, defiant, and sometimes even aggressive.

I provide counseling to adults, teens, children, and families who are warmly welcomed and active participants in therapy at my office. Counseling at this office offers creative avenues for self expression as well as more formal assessments for treatment planning. Acceptance Therapy, including Trauma Focused ACT, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/CBT are integral to my counseling approach. In addition, I have a specific expertise in the treatment of Eating Disorders, OCD and as an ADHD-CCSP Certified Clinical Services Provider. I am licensed to provide counseling services in North Carolina, Indiana and Missouri.

I enjoy working with adults, adolescents and children. I treat the whole person (emotionally, physically and spiritually). I help to motivate you toward realistic lifestyle change by meeting you where you are in the process. I treat those with ADHD, depression, anxiety and stress issues to name a few. I am trauma informed and I use different approaches based on the needs of the client. At the top of my list are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness and Stress Reduction Approaches.
