Over the past two decades, I have predominantly worked with trauma survivors (combat and or non combat), chronic mental illness, victims of crimes, domestic violence, and sexual assault. I have worked on the front lines and one of my passions is to support our first responders who are serving our community diligently 24/7. Depth psychology often includes a “mutual journey into the underworld.” The benefit of this journey is that we can learn to experience the darkness as well as the light, simultaneously, and by doing so enjoy a more peaceful life in the midst of ongoing challenges and opportunities.
I have always been very passionate about working with trauma survivors. My goal is to not only help reduce the impact of the trauma but also to help survivors to get to a place to where their narrative no longer dictates their lives, and they can again experience the good that life has to offer. Basically we are working towards “restoring the innocence.”
After acknowledging our trauma, we will work to begin to have compassion for ourselves. Then we will learn what it means to be part of the “human experience” and that we are really not alone. Finally, we will put together an individual tool kit that will not only help you to cope better, but also help you heal from your wounds step by step.
