About
My extensive experience working with adolescents and adults of all ages has underscored to me the need to hear what the person believes has sent them to seek therapy, how they attempt to deal with it, and how it has impacted them and their lives. This is done by my using active listening skills, and paying attention to where the client is in their search for help.. By doing so, I am able to explore and further discuss what is identified as the presenting problem. I also inform the client that therapy is a place to discuss thoughts and feelings.
My interest in treating addictions, grief, anxiety and depression I aim to help clients become more proactive in their care and for them to note the importance of being patient with themselves and the process whereas growth can be accompanied by intermittent set backs.
My beginnings as psychotherapist with the learning and developmentally disabled helped me to realize the basic need for human connection and belonging, no matter where we are intellectually. I have also worked with 9/11 survivors and have training in Critical Incident Stress Management and Cognitive Behavioral Training.
