Hello, My name is Carmen Guerrero, I am a marriage and family therapist. I believe that the client is the expert of their own story. I meet where clients are and respect their personal processes. My approach to therapy is family systems. I work with the entire family to address patterns of behavior that contribute to the problem, focusing on communication, roles, and boundaries within the family system. I also utilize evidence-based practices such as CBT, Solutions Focused, Mindfulness, Trauma Focus CBT, Motivational Interviews, and EMDR.
I have worked with children, teens, TAY, couples, older adults, and members of the LGBTQIA, with conditions such as grief, gender identity, couples issues, sexual education, trauma, anxiety, and depression. My communication style is direct, assertive, and structured, but also compassionate.
During the first session I will be inquiring about presenting problems, obtaining historical information, building rapport, and explaining the therapy process and style.
