With over twenty years of experience in a practice focusing primarily on personal issues and improving relationships, I provide individual, couple, and family therapy, including treatment for depression, anxiety, ADHD, and ODD, and I help patients work through a variety of other issues: grief and mourning, family/relationship conflicts, issues around adoption, sexuality and coming out, autism, mood disorders. I work with patients ranging in age from children (as young as 6) to teens to adults, all in a comfortable therapeutic setting. Most of all, I believe in helping my patients achieve a fulfilling sense of self and of life.
For me, therapy is about providing a safe, non-judgmental space, free from social pressures and prejudices and labels. I see therapy as a partnership and dialogue between the therapist and the patient, where together we tackle challenges and questions, and think and work together to craft answers.
I am particularly respectful and sensitive to ethnic-cultural differences; fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese, I previously lived and practiced in Latin America. I believe strongly in a multi-disciplinary approach to therapy, using a variety of techniques and ideas to find what works best for each patient.
