Hello, I’m Dr. Carla Sterling, and I’m a licensed clinical psychologist (Psy.D.). I’m currently licensed in Maryland and the District of Columbia and have worked with individuals, families, groups, and couples. I use an integrative approach to therapy and my primary areas of focus include trauma and other stress-related disorders; mood and anxiety disorders; grief; serious mental illness/thought disorders; and health promotion and disease prevention. I also provide psychodiagnostic testing that helps with diagnostic clarification and treatment recommendations.
My theoretical approach to therapy is best described as integrative. My philosophy of care is rooted in the belief that it’s essential to understand and consider multiple dimensions of the whole person - including physical/physiological/biological, mental, emotional, social/relational, and spiritual variables.
When I first meet with clients, I value providing a welcoming environment to help them feel comfortable in making that initial connection with me, sharing the primary reasons for seeking treatment, and what they hope to achieve during the process.
