Hello, my name is Justin Reese founder of RAYC (Rising Above Your Circumstance) Counseling Service, LLC, and I’m an Associate Licensed Counselor in Alabama. I also have teaching experience with MPS for 10+ years. My only objective is to earn your trust within a positive atmosphere while focusing on concerns to build a better you. As a client, our sessions will be confidential, and you’ll have a counselor who is understanding, willing to listen, patient, won’t judge you, and is open-minded.

You can still love your baby as you wrestle with these feelings. I am committed to helping families as they navigate pregnancy & new parenthood when it is challenging. My medical training and experience as an MD created a firm foundation that enables me to understand physical issues like complicated or multiple pregnancies, children with special needs, delivery complications, and losing a child, and the mental health challenges that can come with those experiences.

Welcome! I feel that I act as a guide for my clients on their journey toward self-awareness and self-discovery. I strive to provide a safe and peaceful space in which clients can learn new coping skills to enable them to move toward their life goals. I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused and insight therapy to help my clients deal with depression, anxiety, loss, anger, relationship issues, and stress. I tailor my counseling style to each individual client's needs.

Dr. Carney provides forensic services, psychological evaluation and consultation. Child custody, parenting capacity, disability, pre-employment, personal injury, and criminal evaluations constitute his day-to-day practice.

I am trained in a variety of models and believe that treatment is unique to each individual client. I have experience working with clients with difficulties including anxiety, depression, child behavioral issues, social skills, low self-esteem, relationship and family issues, family transitions, and parenting.

I believe that everyone has a story that needs to be told. There is such power and change that comes when someone shares their personal story, and I believe that everyone’s story should be heard, no matter the age. People go through life with their own struggles, trials, and perceptions; but they don’t have to do it alone. As a clinician, I provide a safe place for my clients to share their story, provide empathetic support, and encourage change through personal empowerment and shifted perspective. The challenges and difficulties of life can cause a person to feel defeated, hurt, and overwhelmed. Having no one to understand the heartache, frustration, and worries is tiring. Sometimes the only way to get through life is to hide away in a safe space while struggling to make it through another day. That safe space has caused you to feel trapped and miserable in a dark place, wondering what your purpose for living is. You are tired of feeling judged and not heard when you have taken the risk to share your story with others. Instead, you just wish someone would stop and listen without judgement to your story and offer some hope.

My ideal client is one who is ready to talk about their difficulties and problems and accept therapeutic relationship building, unconditional positive regard, feedback and reframing. I enjoy working with clients across the life continuum starting at age 4.

We treat children, adolescents and adults with behavioral issues, mood disorders, developmental and personality disorders. I work with parents to develop behavioral plans for their homes and families to supplement the therapy done with their children/adolescents in my office.

Parenting is hard work and children don't come with instructions! As a parent we often worry about our children's well-being and we want to do the best for our children. At the same time we can feel overwhelmed especially if our children have experienced abuse, are acting out, experiencing adjustment to a divorce or other family changes, making bad choices, or seem sad and worried. Sometimes we don't know where to turn or what to do next. You may start to feel like you've tried everything with no results. I, and my licensed associate therapists, specialize in these and other issues.
