Hi, I am Dara, founder of A Better Mind, A Better Me, LLC, a virtual solo private practice dedicated to giving people the advantage of shifting their life’s trajectory by prioritizing their mental, emotional and spiritual wellness. I am dedicated to empowering and encouraging you to do life better. I take a dual approach to counseling by working both toward a better mind and, ultimately a better me.

I enjoy working with clients ages 18+. I have received special training working with individuals struggling with changing problematic behaviors, cycles, and thoughts. I also work with clients struggling with challenging issues such as Anxiety and Depression. I go beyond traditional "talk therapy". My goal as your therapist is to teach you the tools you need to create the change you are looking for. This includes providing the knowledge to maintain the progress you make during therapy and the confidence to face any obstacles after therapy.

I have over 11 years working with children, and 5 years working specifically with children who have neurological and developmental disabilities. I am a Board Certificated Behavior Analyst and a Licensed Behavior Analyst in the state of Virginia. I build rapport with my clients and their families, bringing a compassionate, strength-based, holistic approach to behavioral treatment.

In my years of clinical experience, I have learned that unhealed childhood trauma appears as new wounds in present situations, regardless of age. Healing these wounds is the most important work that a person can do as unresolved trauma extends to all relationships including familial, marital, professional, societal, etc. I know that healing takes compassion and a strong clinical background that guides thinking and supports the therapeutic process. It involves clear boundaries to develop a trusting relationship which enables the client to tolerate the discomfort necessary to do the work to allow healing that brings about change.
