I help individuals who feel anxious and depressed, confused and stuck, or easily overwhelmed by "life's" demands. I help people in the midst of emotional crises find ways to cope with difficult emotions, life changes, relationships, work, and personal problems. I work with couples to help restore and build stronger bonds with each other. If you are feeling overwhelmed by emotions that get in the way of living the life you want to live, I will help identify obstacles in your way. I use an experiential approach that helps you achieve balance, reconnects you to yourself and others, and empowers you to live the life you want to live.

If you’re in a moment of transition; experiencing anger, anxiety, grief, depression, then I want to connect with you. I see my role as to provide an accepting, warm and nurturing environment where you can comfortably express your feelings. I believe that no emotion is wrong but there are healthy and helpful ways to process them that we can access together. My therapeutic approach is direct and unique to each individual I work with. No two people are alike and your treatment shouldn't be either.

As a Therapist I strive to provide a comfortable, respectful and empathetic space that allows individuals and families to gain insight, learn effective coping strategies, and promote positive lasting change. Each client has their own set of skills, needs and experiences that I am mindful of during the process. My approach as a Therapist is to create a safe and supportive environment. I utilize evidence-based practices including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and behavioral modification.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents and adults in providing counseling services that foster understanding, personal challenges, personal resiliency, emotional healing and inner personal growth with solutions-based counseling that enhances quality of life with compassion and empathy. Our emotions can be indicators for development and life change. I enjoy providing EAP services and work with Compsych, Optum, and Kepro. I have extensive experience with complex trauma and crisis. Welcome to Bridgelight Counseling! It is my hope to come along side you in your journey and assist you in reaching your goals. I started Bridgelight with the purpose of providing affordable, compassionate, and effective counseling. I grew up in Illinois, and earned my master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois. I have experience working in schools, community mental health centers, private practice, and ministry settings. I am committed to continue to pursue greater knowledge and deeper experience in order to better serve the hurting around me.

After establishing a trusting relationship with my clients, I work towards identifying their issues followed by setting mutually-agreed upon attainable goals; one step at a time. I personally believe that the success gained by smaller increments builds confidence which eventually motivates us to achieve more. My clients set the pace; determining just how quickly or slowly they want to proceed. While some only need a few sessions a month, others prefer a more frequent schedule. As a tele-therapy provider I offer the security of a private, confidential “office” with the ease of “meeting” you anywhere at times convenient to you.

As a trained Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT-IT), I bring a systems lens to peoples’ lives and understand how emotional wellbeing is deeply impacted by past and current relationships at home, school, work, and in the community. My practice focuses on partnering with clients (individuals, couples and families) to heal from grief and loss, career/work stress and exploration, perinatal depression/anxiety, parenting children with special needs, and processing the emotional hardships associated with health concerns and aging. You want to appear successful and like you have it “all together,” but deep down you are struggling to manage your overthinking, perform when it counts, or feel like you’re “enough." Maybe you work really hard but still don’t get the results you are striving for. When this happens, you say mean things to yourself you would NEVER say to anyone else. Or, you worry about something you said or did, long after everyone else has forgotten about it. Plus, you aren’t always sure how you really feel or what to do with your feelings. You may question why things are so difficult when it seems like everyone else gets through life more easily.

Is anxiety an issue? I focus on helping anxious and overthinking people, from the Neurodivergent to those with genetic and generalized anxiety. I also work with depression, mood disorders, and trauma. I teach university courses online, including classes on Psychopharmacology, so I can be an excellent resource for your psychiatrist or general practice doctor in helping you with medications. I also have extensive experience with personality disorders. I am licensed in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Arizona. I also help with life coaching, career coaching, and business coaching. I am known for being compassionate, kind, and an advocate.

Providing therapy and working to help patients is my lifelong passion. I take a strength based and trauma informed approach while working with patients who have a wide variety of mental health concerns. I believe therapy is a collaborative process and I use an interdisciplinary approach to therapy and tailor it to each client’s unique needs. In practice, I am direct, solution-focused, and passionate in assisting patients in meeting their goals.
