Having experience in working with children and adults in different capacities over my career, it has become my desire to help those I work with find their own potential and assist in empowerment. I have an extensive background in woking with those with a variety of mental health issues in the community mental health setting and hospital setting.

My theory of counseling is that people have specific behaviors they would like to change, which are caused by our irrational, self-defeating beliefs learned from earlier life experiences. My goal will be to assist with change of the irrational and self-defeating beliefs to change undesired behaviors and circumstances. Counseling is a personal exploration that leads to major changes in your life perspectives and decisions. These changes may affect significant relationships and understanding of yourself. Some of these life changes could be temporarily distressing. Together we will work to achieve the best possible results for you.

My ideal client is someone who is struggling with an issue that feels too big to deal with by themselves. Whether it's anxiety, depression, dealing with the emotions and aftereffects of trauma, I would love for my client to be honest about what their needs are and how they want to grow towards healing.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I recognized and value the trust my clients place in me. I strive every day to provide quality and exceptional service. I have been in full-time private practice as a clinical and counseling psychologist for 31 years. I completed a hospital internship and have spent my career seeing not only patients with emotional disorders, but also patients with medical diagnoses such as chronic pain, cancer, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, and morbid obesity. I have considerable experience with psychological testing and use tests to help patients' physicians and psychiatrists find the optimal psychotropic medications for their symptoms. I have been trained in traditional psychodynamic therapy but also employ a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive and behavioral therapies and family therapy.

I work with women across the lifespan with a primary focus in those who are trying to conceive, pregnant, adjusting to motherhood, as well as women navigating being in the "sandwich" generation. Additionally, I focus on supporting individuals with OCD. My experience of over 14 years has afforded me the opportunity to work with individuals with depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, grief, life transitions, and relationship issues. I have advanced training in addressing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders as well as training in Exposure Response Prevention for OCD.

They may bring to our sessions their need for acceptance and belonging, needing positive peer interactions, anxieties, and career exploration.
