As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I recognize each person has their own individual story with a unique journey towards healing and wellness. I use a diverse skill set incorporating cognitive therapy with a mind-body centered approach that is unique to each persons needs. I believe that growth and change is possible through building meaningful, trusting and safe relationships with my clients.

As a veteran, I've seen people in all forms of crises and facing all manners of difficulties in their lives. Working through marital and family crises, life transitions, career changes, severe traumas, depression, anxiety, and all manners of things was an every day experience for us and learning to cope with these issues can be difficult. Finding jobs, mending relationships, getting through depression - all things that can be worked on and I would love to help.

I believe that each person is an expert on their own unique experience. I view my role as being a guide in assisting people towards discovering and reaching their goals towards enhancing and enriching their lives. I recognize that the most important aspect to an effective treatment is the quality of the relationship between the client and therapist. Through this collaborative approach, the client and I, identify their strengths and build on these characteristics through therapy. We identify areas in the individuals' life which are not useful or producing an undesirable outcome-such as self-destructive behavior, poor communication skills. This enables the client to gain an understanding of their symptoms and behavior and become more able to make practical, helpful changes. This way of working can help them live a more fulfilling life with understanding and meaning.

There is no ideal client. I'm best suited to deal with people where they're at with an open mind, an open heart, and much experience in life.

I am currently accepting new clients. I have many years of experience working in the Human Services field. I have counseled individuals with developmental disabilities and those without. Specifically, with goal planning, vocational counseling, job development and disability management. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (since 1996) I have a Masters of Arts degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University. I retired in 2015 after 21 years as Senior Vocational Counselor at Community Mental Health here in Lansing, Michigan.

Raynard focuses his training and skills on the personal and professional develop of individuals desiring to develop coping skills for Life transitions, anger management, trauma experience, and stress management. Raynard also dedicates his service towards the focus of other needs such as effective communication and listening skills, time management, interpersonal conflict resolution, sexual health, career and educational guidance, and licensure supervision.

There are many challenging life events that can leave you feeling overwhelmed, unable to sleep, having a hard time starting or getting through the day, all without improvement. Motherhood can be such a rich and rewarding yet difficult and at times totally overwhelming experience. It is a life-changing transformation to become a mother, and even with all of the love and joy that motherhood can bring, it can also bring with it some really hard emotions: am I doing this right? Am I doing enough? Am I enough? There's even the chance you may be grieving the person you used to be and the life you used to live before your identity became "mama." Motherhood is a beautiful, messy and complicated journey, but you don't have to feel lost or alone or dissatisfied in your new role.

Taking the first step towards making a change is the most difficult step but most important. What one needs most during this time is a space of safety, empathy and encouragement.
