I am a licensed mental health professional with over 11 years of clinical experience. My professional background is in Clinical Psychology with a Client-Centered focus. Client-Centered Counseling is a manner of being or an attitudinal approach that believes that positive change in people occurs in a therapeutic relationship with another person (a helper or a therapist) in which the helper provides unconditional positive regard, genuineness and empathy toward the client or patient. During my career, I have worked with all types of issues and in various stages of one’s life path.I am Looking forward to helping you.

We have all been going through so much over the last four years with COVID and world wide traumas. I am a “baby boomer” and a survivor of COVID. I understand the anxiety we all feel with so many unknowns and so much grief and loss. We are all on a journey of recovery. I can help with that journey. I care and have the training and empathy to be a guide towards health. My therapuetic style is holistic: focusing on a mind, body and spiritual connection. I work with my patients to promote positive change; we are partners on the journey. Most of my sessions are online which is very convenient for my patients. I am very good at my job.

Bio video on my website! In 2011, I graduated from seminary & worked as a youth pastor for 5 years. From the vantage point of a pastor, I saw the need for good, quality, professional therapy in people's lives. When you walk through the therapist’s door, you expect to be given the tools you need to accomplish change. Good therapy is more than “What do you want to talk about today?” You need to work with a therapist who has the right tools to dig deep and do some heavy lifting, and that is what I offer.

Angela Holloway Shakir is a Licensed Professional Counselor serving Northwest Arkansas. She serves children and adolescents ages (5-17), adults (18+) and the senior populations (65+). Angela has over 7 years of experience in a variety of settings including school based, residential, inpatient, outpatient, and corrections. Her services are tailored for individual, group, couples, and families offering an integrative approach to address the unique needs of each client. Her experience and skills allow her to serve a diverse population providing both long term and brief interventions.

Lakera has experience working with clients with various mental health disorders including but not limited to depression, anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, grief issues, conduct disorders, adjustment disorders, substance use issues, and career/life transitions. She has worked with all populations, including children, adolescents, and adults. She is also an infant mental health therapist in the state of Arkansas. Utilizing cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused therapies, she believes that clients can be empowered to use all life experiences to create a brighter, better reality and live to their fullest potential.
