Over the past 20 years, I have valued collaborating with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, women's issues, career struggles, spirituality, overcoming abuse, healing relationships, coping with chronic/acute medical conditions, preparing/coping for retirement, care-giving, and terminal illness. Grieving is a natural response to any significant loss. I see adults 23 yrs and up. No children, teens, or couples.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education from Sam Houston State University and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Letourneau University. I have been working as an educator and coach for over 20 years. In my time as a classroom teacher, I have learned invaluable skills in motivating and encouraging young adults and adolescents. In education it is important to teach young people how to navigate through challenging situations in order for them to find success. I have worked hard over the years to develop the rapport needed to develop the skills in his students to get through those difficult times.

You could also be dealing with identity-related challenges, particularly if they are part of the LGBTQAI+ communities. Family dynamics, interpersonal relationships, and career-related stressors might also be contributing factors to your concerns.

Attempts to “control” and “get rid” of our thoughts and feelings can leave us feeling powerless and stuck struggling with our problems in life. Instead of continuing that endless battle against anxiety, sadness, and all the other hurdles life throws at us, let’s help you identify how your mind can trap you, keeping you stuck against your problems. The most common struggles I help clients learn to change their relationships with are anxiety and intrusive thoughts, career stressors, and eating concerns.

I provide telehealth (video) counseling in English and Portuguese to adults suffering with: depression, anxiety, panic, social phobia, obsessions and compulsions, and struggles with relationships, perfectionism and career. Please understand that the success of the therapy is highly correlated to your ability to engage in the process. While having a rapport will provide a safe environment for you to express your challenges, in most cases, this is not enough. It requires your active participation in understanding how the mind works, where emotions come from and your behavioral choices.

At my core, it is my belief that the most important part of counseling is the rapport and trust that we build in the relationship together on this journey.

My approach to therapy is to make it as casual and natural as possible. It should feel comfortable in the room, as if you're talking to an old friend. I am comfortable working with all ethnicities and cultures. I am committed to meeting my clients halfway and will move at your pace. Hi, Making the first move for help is always the most difficult. A little about myself, I have lived and learned multiculturalism from my stay in various cities and abroad. From my experiences combined with my training and education has helped me become very effective when helping those in need of intervention. I specialize in problems with children, adolescents, adults, marraige, relationships, and family problems, depression, dissociative, and behavioral disorders.

For over 20 years in the Clear Lake, Baytown and Galveston areas, Ms. Layne, has provided child( ages 6+), adolescent, adult, couples, and family therapy. She has provided trauma-recovery, cognitive behavioral, behavior modification, and insight oriented therapy, to survivors of sex, physical, emotional abuse and other life changing events. Ms. Layne has extensive experience working in juvenile justice systems, and under the guidance of psychiatrists, and psychologists providing assessments, crisis, short, and longer term therapy services.
