I'm Sam (she/her). I am a licensed clinical social worker in the Chicago-land area with 7 years of experience. I have provided individual, family, and group counseling as well as having extensive experience with crisis intervention. Throughout my career I have worked with clients during all stages of the lifespan. I am especially passionate about working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, self-harm, trauma and life transitions. I tend to gravitate towards interventions that integrate mind and body, but I fundamentally believe that each client requires an individualized approach.

My belief that all people deserve meaningful opportunity and satisfaction in life defined my 15-year career helping adolescents, young adults, adults, families, and parents overcome barriers to wide range of goals. I serve clients with a variety of needs stemming from disability, depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting/caregiver roles, family of origin, substance use, and vocational exploration. I see value in finding meaning in difficult life experiences to inform new ways of understanding ourselves and engaging others, and I believe people benefit most when equipped with the tools, knowledge, and care to author their own stories.

I believe that we all have an inherent need to feel connected, seen, and understood and that is often where the growth, relief, and healing begins. My clinical work is based on a dynamic and relational approach that works collaboratively with clients to gain an understanding of how early experiences underlie behaviors, thoughts, feelings, and explore ways to connect with others. My approach is grounded in a social justice, sex-positive, and anti-oppressive lens, that posits an understanding of how systems of power and privilege manifest in individuals’ lives and impact individuals' ability to heal.

I offer practical, solution-focused goal-oriented psychotherapy aimed at timely symptom relief and problem resolution. My clients, being adults, determine their own therapy goals and agenda. My style is respectful, but interactive. I do not tell my clients what to do but I will always tell you honestly how I feel about the things that you present. I believe therapy should be time-limited and results-oriented, NOT a life-long continuous process. I believe that people can change, or else I would not be in this business. I delight in helping people master the tools which facilitate desired change.

My approach to therapy is integrative and is relationally focused. My lens is existential and focused on finding meaning in what seems to be an increasingly chaotic, meaningless world of information overload, technology, climate change, and social unrest. I believe that mental health goes beyond alleviating symptoms and that we have the capacity to experience greater joy, creativity, meaning, and fulfilling relationships in life. I have interest and experience working with those who identify as LGBTQ+, first-generation college students, and issues of grief, trauma, burnout, loneliness, isolation, career and life transitions.

Life is constantly moving, changing, and evolving. Sometimes it feels like too much to take on alone. In a fast-paced world with many truths, I enable individuals to fully understand themselves in a warm, judgment-free environment. I work with young adults facing life transitions, relationship challenges, career stress, and quarter-life crisis. I also work with adults of all ages experiencing anxiety, depression, career uncertainty, grief, eating disorders, and health concerns. I am incredibly impassioned by helping individuals to understand their own personal intersection between mental wellness and physical health.

Having been involved in the mental health field for over a decade, working across various setting (hospitals, VA, college) I now focus on those eager to enhance their creativity, community, and value-driven experiences. As the founder of an organization that has seen significant growth, my interest lies in supporting leaders—whether they are in creative roles, parenting, or mental health professions—who struggle with the demands of their work environments and the prioritization of their own healing. I believe relationships are formed in repair and I am useful to those seeking to deepen the interpersonal and cultural spaces.

Many of us are not taught to prioritize mental health and end up unsure of what to do when faced with difficult feelings. Therapy does not need to be scary or intimidating. My style is warm and deeply collaborative. Together, we will set goals, continually make sure we're moving in the right direction, and maybe even have a laugh or two along the way. I am a lifelong learner. In therapy, I draw upon the latest neurobiology research to help you understand how what's going on in your brain and nervous system can affect your mood and behavior.

As a therapist, I am always committed to my client's potential and well being. I focus on my client's strengths and core values to collaborate with them to find healing and solutions for their therapeutic needs. Empathy, constructive listening and feedback are combined with theory and holistic evidence-based practices to provide effective clinical support. Over the course of my career, I have worked with diverse patient populations in various settings. These range from working in medically managed inpatient detoxification services, to clinically supervising a 28-day residential treatment program, to outpatient individual therapy.

She offers an empathetic and warm approach focused on creating an environment of honesty, encouragement and safety to access deeper aspects of oneself and live a more full life. She views therapy as a collaboration where you work together to build upon your personal strengths and resources to heal from loss, trauma or emotional difficulties and let go of old habits and behaviors that are no longer helpful.

My name is Nancy Anderson. I am a licensed, clinical professional counselor, and also a certified alcohol and drug counselor. I have a passion for working with clients, experiencing life transitions, including divorce and bereavement issues, stress management, anger management, and those clients interested in personal growth. Additionally, I enjoy working with young adults, college students, substance abuse, and invocational Counseling. I employ CBT(cognitive behavioral therapy).
