I am a queer, nonbinary therapist and owner of Vada Counseling. At Vada, we specialize in affirming, empowering, anti-oppressive therapy for LGBTQ+ folks and allies across Texas.
All of our therapists are queer or trans ourselves, so we get it. There's no such thing as TMI in therapy: we can talk about sex, dating, abuse, religion, politics, money, family, and other "shameful" topics without judgment. We can cuss, cry, laugh, share memes, and make darkly inappropriate jokes about mental health. We know good therapy requires honesty and cutting through the bs, so we show up as our authentic selves and ask you to, too.
At Vada Counseling, we use a mix of person-centered, queer, and anti-oppression/liberation-based therapies. This means you and your therapist are equal partners in defining your goals, exploring tools to process or cope, and creating a plan for therapy that's tailored to your needs. We're not going to tell you what to do, but we will keep it real.
Our ultimate goal is to support you in finding stability, joy, and self-acceptance. We can explore identity and relationship issues, practice effective coping skills, or examine the oppressive systems at the root of inequality, it's up to you and what you're needing!
