About
All humans experience pain and stress in life along with the propensity to become entangled in distressing thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations when challenges arise. This often leads to perceptions, interactions, behaviors, and decisions that add further distress to both the mind and body. I attempt to facilitate increased mindfulness through improved insight, awareness, compassion, non-judgment and decreased entanglement in the distressing internal dialogue. I incorporate various theoretical perspectives including mindfulness, person-centered, cognitive and cognitive behavioral as I attempt to guide individuals toward increased inner peace.
I help individuals respond to themselves and their challenges with more compassion, wisdom, and understanding, as well as decreased entanglement in negative internal dialogue (decreased belief in the negative thoughts that increase during stress and an improved ability to respond to distressing feelings and physical sensations in a more healthy manner).
The individuals I see in therapy are encountering a variety of life challenges. Therapy work with them also includes psycho-education and learning about how the mind and body respond to stress, mindfulness based meditation, bibliotherapy, and play therapy for children.
