My professional goals are to be curious, gain practical experience utilizing person-centered play therapy skills and techniques, apply my prior knowledge as a behavior technician and from graduate courses, and learn from my co-workers and supervisors. I am interested in working with neurodiverse children and adolescents, parenting, parents’ mental health, women’s mental health, and specific mental health challenges such as anxiety, autism, learning differences, and ADHD. I have experience working with anxiety, autism, ADHD, life transitions, depression, and self-esteem.
My counseling philosophy is person-centered, particularly child-centered play therapy (CCPT) when working with children and young adolescents. I believe therapeutic growth comes from the relationship, unconditional acceptance, freedom, and self-actualization.
My role is to provide a secure environment in which to interact with clients and focus on the therapeutic relationship. I believe children communicate through play, are capable beings, and can do hard things when they feel safe, and their feelings are validated.
