I work with queer and trans people, and welcome clients who do not fit those identities. I am particularly interested in working with—but not limited to—relationship dynamics, gender and sexuality exploration, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, sensitivity, neurodivergence, inner child work, fat justice / liberation, and connecting to self-expression. I invite clients who are sitting with the questions of… How can I live fully as myself? What's happening in my relationship to self? To others? To the world? I value supporting you in your authentic expression beyond constructs and rules, and I work very experientially.

These populations include people of color, queer people, and transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive people.
I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), but I also provide sex therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and exposure therapy. Much of the treatment I provide focuses on making changes in the service of living our most meaningful lives.

Are you tired of bad "dates" with therapists, finding yourself explaining basic parts of your identity and feeling like therapy's going nowhere because of it? Maybe you're kinky, disabled, BIPOC, neurodivergent, queer, non-monogamous, all of the above, or don't subscribe to labels. It's time to alter the narrative towards solidifying, expanding, and affirming those identities instead of breaking down, minimizing, or ignoring them.

For parents of transgender and non-binary youth, this can sometimes leave them feeling "out of the loop
Informed by fifteen years of clinical experience working with over one-thousand clients and my personal experiences as a trans person, I can help parents better understand the experiences of gender dysphoria and how dysphoria can lead to anxiety and depression, and how in an attempt to cope with dysphoria, many youths turn to isolation and disengagement.

Do you find yourself struggling with your gender and/or sexual identities in a world that doesn’t always feel affirming? Are you finding it challenging to get through the day or feeling exhausted due to having to perform for others' comfort? Together, we can unpack those challenges, process systemic pressures and personal trauma. Often, this day to day struggle leaves us disconnected from our authentic selves. In a world where safety, respect, and acceptance is not always the standard, I want to invite you to take the step in creating a space where you can show up as your whole self.

I view therapy as an exploration. I act as a trained co-explorer who curiously adventures alongside you. I’m not a therapist who will pretend that there’s an easy “solve" or that I have the answers. Instead, in me you will find a compassionate, goofy, and reverent witness to your process, one skilled in helping you shine a light on not only what you’re saying, but how you’re saying it. This combined with somatic and parts work explorations, plus inner child work, helps you sink into the deep stuff, getting at the roots of your patterns vs. just talking about them. This helps foster meaningful and lasting change over time.

Are you experiencing overwhelm, gender identity questions, or patterns that just don’t feel good? I’m passionate about working with people who long for a deeper, more caring connection with themselves. Returning to our bodies and embracing our whole selves are radical acts in the face of oppressive systems. I specialize in gender identity, substance use, and anxiety - I do not require or push abstinence. I tend to connect most effectively with folks who are trans, queer, kinky, nonmonogamous, helping professionals, students, recent graduates, artists, neurodivergent, witchy, and/or spiritually inclined.

Folx who align with my approach are often the misunderstood creative—the over-thinker who toggles between feeling “too much” & “not enough.” Too often labeled highly sensitive, they carry layered trauma, mask neurodivergence, navigate LGBTQIA2S+, queerness or gender identity, and feel outcast in most spaces. They seek a therapist whose own queer, non-binary, neurodivergent experience signals safety and compassion, while blending quirkiness and humor for balance. They long to understand their life more deeply, linking emotions to lived experience and honoring both as valid. To see themselves, and to be seen by another, as whole.

If you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward, you’re not alone. You deserve to feel safe, seen, and at home in your body and identity. Together, we’ll move toward the joy, freedom, and connection you’re longing for.

Have you been feeling stuck in a repetitive dynamic? Are you in the midst of a major transition, reeling from a recent trauma, or re-living painful and emotional residue connected to traumas long past? I want you to know that I can help. I believe that we all have more potential than we know, and no matter where we might currently find ourselves or where we have been in the past, we each have the capacity for psychological and emotional growth. I have a special interest and passion providing therapy to couples, and individuals struggling with transition, and experiencing feelings of disconnection, isolation, and grief.

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
