*ACCEPTING CALIFORNIA, ILLINOIS, AND MISSOURI CLIENTS* Have you experienced trauma or wonder if you have? Curious how trauma may still be affecting you? Are you hesitant to seek out therapy out of fear of judgement about your cultural identity? Do you feel like you encounter more microaggressions than support when seeking healing? If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, then you may be in the right place. Trauma is more than PTSD. Numbness, difficulty making decisions, perfectionism, dissociation, low self-worth, addiction, insomnia, panic, anger, codependency , self-sabotage, and isolating can all be symptoms of trauma.

I'm trained in relational and somatic approaches to psychotherapy, and specialize in sex/relationships, gender identity, & codependency .
I utilize an embodied & relational approach that is curious, compassionate, strength-based and trauma-informed to help you achieve your goals. I attune to issues of systemic oppression such as racism, patriarchy, capitalism, colonization, ableism, fatphobia, and other forms of structural violence and its related traumas. As a queer, non-binary child of immigrants, I'm familiar with bi-cultural experience. I'm sex & sex work positive, and experienced in working with kink/BDSM & non-monogamy/polyamory. I'm a good fit for folks who want to experience greater fulfillment, pleasure, and, satisfaction in their relationships & life.

Ride The Wave Recovery offers group, individual, and family therapy to clients of all genders and sexualities living with or in recovery from eating disorders, addictions, codependency , co-occurring trauma and ADHD. "Ride the wave" reminds us that sorrow, pain, happiness, triggers, relapses, slips, high highs, low lows, and everything in-between need not be waves that consume us, overtake us, define us, or drown us; rather we can gently and skillfully navigate these waves, from the surface, as if on a psychological surfboard, with the help of others, our Wise Mind, our Higher Power, or Self keeping us afloat.

Now accepting new clients! On this journey of life, there are times you may feel alone, feel stuck in unwanted patterns, or feel overburdened by your challenges. Maybe it is hard to even identify what is causing pain, or what is not quite feeling right. You are not alone in these struggles. I know from my own experiences that it can be hard to reach out for help and do this work of self-reflection and self-discovery, but it is so worth it. You are worth it.

The poet, Mary Oliver, asks: "Tell me, what is it that you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" I am so honored to walk with my clients in a skill-based approach as we explore these kinds of questions and access that deeper wisdom available to us all. The human psyche is such a magnificent entity--your search for an ultimately satisfying life deserves to be witnessed and supported as you move through it! I believe that as you recognize patterns which may be limiting your life and release them, you will find the source of true empowerment as well as our interconnectedness with it.

Transitions are hard. There is often so much shame around trying to figure out who we are and asking for what we want. Am I going to burden others? Am I too much for people if I ask for something that I desire? Am I being "selfish"? Who am I to "demand" others for things I don't think I "deserve"? If these are some of the questions you have asked yourself, then I'm here to help. It's okay to feel lost, like you're wandering the woods alone. I'm here for you so we can wander these woods together.

Are you feeling lost? Out of control, burned out, stuck, or like an imposter? Are you or your loved ones repeating behaviors, relationships, or situations, and wishing you could break the cycle? Maybe little things feel more stressful than usual. Sometimes, we aren't sure what causes our distress, but we can sense we're not reaching our potential for health, happiness, or success. Even when we know the cause, change can still feel impossible. That's where I come in. My job is not to judge you; it's to listen, help you understand the root causes of your difficulties, and teach you practical tools to help change your life.

I have a deep passion for helping people find liberation from problems that bring them to therapy. Understanding why we do things the way we do them is critical to growth, change and healing. I ground my work in warmth, compassion, authenticity and an understanding of how thoughts and emotions relate to neuro/physiological processes, as well as how past experiences inform current beliefs, thoughts, feelings and behaviors. My aim is to help you gain clarity into underlying causes of problems, provide strategies for coping and support you in taking risks and trying new ways of being, to live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

For some of us, the pandemic created opportunities for reflecting on ourselves and our lives whether we wanted them or not. Maybe the collective trauma of the last few years triggered memories of personal, family or cultural trauma you had tried to put behind you. Or perhaps the social shift has given you the time and space to start asking the questions you've had about your (a)sexuality, gender, or relationships. Maybe you are grappling with chronic illness such as long covid, or maybe you just realize "this" is not working, but you aren't quite sure what "this" is or what to do instead?

My goal as a therapist is to make my clients feel seen. Authenticity, language, and empathy are the three tenants in my therapeutic work. Our lived experiences shape the way we interact with others and, as a result, old patterns may resurface. By creating dialogue in the room, my clients and I are able to foster a space for healing work to begin. As a growth-oriented clinician, I value the growth that comes from the therapeutic process and want to empower my clients to be the change they wish to see in their lives.

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in California, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in California listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
