These are troubling times. We're in the midst of what experts are calling a polycrisis, fueled by ecological degradation, global health concerns (covid-19), the fracturing of societal/governmental institutions, and assaults on women’s reproductive liberty/sexual sovereignty. Feelings of instability, confusion, uncertainty, and anxiety are the new norm and we don’t know how to manage them. In fact, some of us may feel gaslighted when we compare our felt emotions with the perceived reality of the world - the "business-as-usual" paradigm encouraging us to keep our productivity high and our critical thinking/feeling low.

Scheduling consults for those seeking therapy to start July 2023! The lotus flower is the only flower that seeds and blooms simultaneously. The lotus is rooted in muddy water, developing in the midst of thick struggle and obstacles. When the lotus emerges, it cleans the water, transforming its environment. This is where it blooms seeking the light of the sun while sending out seeds of possibility into the world. The lotus symbolizes cause and effect teaching us that each action we take will produce a result and that we contain all the material needed to mend/heal unresolved wounds and traumas.

Congratulations for taking the first step towards change! I utilize many methods with clients during sessions ( expressive arts therapy, narrative therapy, trauma focused therapy, positive psychology, videos, worksheets, etc.) Change does take work but it can happen! I sometimes give homework to help my clients achieve their goals. I mainly work with adults (18+) as individuals and as couples (couples counseling includes a parent and adult child, adult siblings, or intimate partnerships). Whether it's anxiety, trauma, stress, or a mixture of things, I look forward to working with you!

As an expressive arts therapist, we can work creatively, using art, music, movement, or being in nature together.
Therapy is a space you carve out with me to reconnect - with yourself, your goals, your life’s meaning, your passion, your creativity, your spiritual path. We all struggle with difficult things at times; they pull us away from who we want to be, or the path we intend to walk in life. I believe relationships are the most important healers we have in our lives – starting with your relationship with yourself! Extending to all your other important and beloved relationships - with family, friends, community, planet, and spirit. No matter where you are, your journey to self-empowerment and joy begins Right Here. I will be there with you.

I often incorporate a different perspective when exploring inner conflicts, the use of expressive arts , and mindfulness into therapy sessions.
I am passionate about working with couples, children, teens, young adults, and adults, with a special interest in trauma, anxiety, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ mental health. As a therapist, I value being genuine and transparent with my clients. I believe in using a mixture of honesty, acceptance, humor, and compassion to meet clients where they are. My approach is directive and supportive, especially when working with couples. In my work with couples, I enjoy helping couples learn to improve their communication with each other, resolve conflict, improve intimacy, and heal emotional wounds which can create distance in the relationship.

Using a holistic blend of somatic, ecospiritual, and expressive arts therapy, we will work together to understand your unique gifts and ways of being, and support you in cultivating everything you need to create your joyful life.
As an empath, intuitive, or highly sensitive person, you experience this world in a deeper, more complex, and intuitive way. You feel the joys and pains of other beings as if they were your very own. This can bring experiences of tremendous joy and love, as well as overwhelm, sacrifice, and suffering. With so much pain in the world, it's hard to discover what you need, or believe you deserve it. As a an empath, intuitive, and highly sensitive person - I understand. I designed my practice to support people just like you - to help you create a life joyfully centered in your own sacred needs, gifts, and ways of being. You deserve joy.

How can I find a therapist in California?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
