Don't wait another day to become your best self. The first step in seeking out a therapist can be scary. I know because I have been there before. You've already taken that first step which takes a lot of courage. Life presents challenges and sometimes these challenges can feel impossible to overcome on your own.

My work focuses on helping people find more understanding and fulfillment in themselves and their relationships. I often work with those suffering with shame, trauma, repressed emotions, and relational conflict. I enjoy facilitating with couples, individuals, and families by way of practical approaches, a non-judgmental ear, and perspective-lending observation. I believe precise language and nonverbal communication can be hugely impactful in relationships. Having a safe place to reflect on and identify your personal and relational dynamics can lead to more awareness, skills, and peace in your life.

Life comes with stresses, it’s a way of life. It’s normal, and it happens to all of us in some way or another. For some, what appears as normalcy is no longer working for them, and that may bring about symptoms with your mind and body that feel uncomfortable. Things we call anxiety, fear, or depression – or cause us to lose connection with family, friends, community, life, ourselves – or just a downright feeling that something isn’t right in our lives. I, too, have had these experiences, which have also brought me to make choices that were not the best for me or others.

In therapy it’s sometimes said you must feel it- to heal it, and for couples this can be especially true. I can help you process difficult emotions together and come to a mutual understanding, grow closer as a couple, and improve communication. I can also work with you independently. For the individuals I work with, I promote improving emotional strength, independence, developing confidence, refining assertiveness, accepting responsibility and finding your direction. I can help you to take an objective look at the relationship dynamics you may be trying to navigate and see if solutions can be found that work for you.

I felt I could do more as a LCSW therapist after working with adults with severe mental health disorders and then with families through child protective services, I wanted to be helping individuals and families in a more proactive way. I'm passionate about learning people's life stories, studying relationships and helping people reach their personal goals and dreams. I've loved and cherished my family relationships, both while growing up, and now with my wife and children. I want to provide a safe environment to share highs and lows and hopes and fears with clients as they too pursue those cherished relationships.

Everyone keeps telling you things will get better, but they don't. You feel stuck, broken, like there is something wrong with you, but you don't know how to fix it. Life feels so overwhelming and there are days where it is so hard to just get out of bed. And if you do get out of bed, you just feel tortured and miserable, like you're in your own personal hell. That voice in your head keeps telling you you're not good enough. Do you turn to food or other habits you desperately wish you could change? Do you obsess about weight and body image? Do you hope for relief that you feel may never come? You are not alone.

It’s a world of commotion! And for many, it’s not only outside of us but raging within us, as well! Where is clarity? Where is real help? At one time or other we all get stuck in our relationships (marital, parent-child, sibling, in-laws, employer, social), our life experiences (past, present, or future), and by emotion overload with things in, and things out, of our control. By themselves, or combined into a perfect storm that levels you flat, these challenging situations can create a desperation for relief and answers!

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in California, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in California listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
