You've felt stuck for so long that it's hard to imagine what it's like to be unstuck. You've tried exercise, meditation, selt-help books, websites, and youtube videos. Maybe you've even gone to see someone to talk to, practiced coping skills, or tried medications. Friends and family offer advice like "you have to let it go" and "just get over it" or "think positive" and "it could be worse", but that seems to cause even more frustration. If I could just move on, you think, don't you think I would've done that already? You've had enough. You're ready to break those chains, move forward with your life, and leave the past to the past.

I have been working as a mental health therapist since September 2000. My experience has been within substance abuse and dependence, severe emotional disturbance, and chronic medical problems. My passion is to work with those who may struggle with chronic medical illness such as diabetes, cardiac disease, or chronic pain. I also delight in working with those who struggle with various mood disorders. When I'm not listening, you will usually find me out on my small adult bike riding with friends, reading, scrapbooking, or traveling.

Coming to therapy isn’t easy, and I’m glad you’ve made your way this far. It isn’t easy to talk about many things. There’s past pain, feelings of failure, inadequacy, and the pressures of everyday life for you or your loved one. On top of all that, depression and anxiety can put on the added strain that makes life challenges seem too much.

Therapy is about safety and knowing you can take care of yourself. I’m a trauma specialist and can help you find that place within that is calling you to heal. I believe that trauma survivors need to learn self regulation which is my specialty. I also do EMDR, DBT, psychoanalysis and narrative therapy with special attention to self in environment and personal history lifeline exploration. I believe each person has within them their unique gifts and abilities to heal - which we tap into together in order to transcend problems and become healthy and whole again.

I want to create a relationship with my clients based on trust, mutual respect, and unconditional regard. I feel that if I can create this environment I can more deeply connect with others and hope to see things from their perspective. I believe that people have the inner capacity for change, and I want to help them be more able to readily access this. This can look different based on each person, helping people move forward in a way they feel will be most productive. I also value multicultural differences and in an effort to more fully understand a person's frame of reference.

I promote growth and healing through compassionate insight, reflection and strategic direction! Acquired Knowledge seems most beneficial when put to use to benefit ourselves or others, for as we serve and engage with others, we more readily discover our true selves. I subscribe to Emerson's notion; "Do the thing, and you will have the power" rather than give me the power and then I will act! I enjoy being a contributing factor to others growth and advancement and relish witnessing the blossoming of added confidence, enhanced self-esteem. and true growth!

There are a lot of joys that can be found in today's world, but sometimes those joys are clouded by the troubles that arise throughout our lives. These troubles have a way of remaining with us, and much of this collected "baggage" can suffocate our joy beneath a mountain of struggle, regret, and hardship. As a therapist, I try to be the kind of person that helps others reconnect to the joy in their life and find true happiness once more. My objective is to assist my clients get back in sync, and not feel stuck in the clouds.

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in California, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in California listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
