As a first gen Armenian American, I understand the impact of intergenerational trauma and use modalities such as EMDR to help break cycles of harm.
Welcome. Are you needing support? Maybe you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or as if something needs to change. Maybe you are looking to know yourself deeper. I come from a place of radical compassion and attunement and believe everyone has innate wisdom, strengths, and coping skills that I hope to help illuminate in collaboration with each person.

Are you struggling with trauma, grief, or loss? As a first-generation Armenian -American from an immigrant family, I understand the unique challenges that come with navigating relationships, family, and work while carrying around the complexities of intergenerational trauma. Grief and loss can take many forms, and not all are widely recognized or supported by society. This is called disenfranchised grief, the type of grieving that can leave you believing you are alone, but the truth is that you are not.

If you're looking for a compassionate therapist who can guide you on your journey to emotional wellness, I would love to offer my services. I believe people deserve to be heard about their challenges, regardless of when they ask for help. I have always been fascinated with three main parts of human body: Brain, heart, and kidneys. My passion for therapy started when I was pursuing a career in nursing back in community college. During my first psychology course, it was evident to me that a healthy mind supersedes a healthy body. I’m an Associate Clinical Social Worker fluent in English, Armenian , and Farsi.

I am trilingual in English, Armenian , and Farsi.
I predominantly work with couples who experience relational challenges. While every couple is unique, the underlying patterns that stand in their way of experiencing love and connection are not. By making sense of their behavioral patterns driven by inner experiences, couples begin fostering a safe environment for deeper connections with themselves and others. To restore the love and intimacy, I incorporate Emotionally-Focused Therapy (an evidence-based couple therapy model). I also work with adult individuals with a variety of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, and grief.

Supported by my training and experience with psychodynamic, attachment based, cognitive behavioral, and exposure based interventions, I specialize in the following areas: Depression, Grief & loss, Armenian speaking population, anxiety, trauma, relationship conflict, and adjustment issues amongst immigrants.
I practice from both a relational and an attachment based framework. It’s widely known that the main driver of successful outcome in psychotherapy is the quality of the relationship between the patient and the clinician. It is also acknowledged that the majority of mental health issues are either caused, maintained, or intensified by unhealthy relationships. For these reasons, I place a great deal of emphasis upon our relationship as a foundation for implementing any clinical interventions.

I am trilingual, I can provide therapy sessions in English, Farsi (Persian) and Armenian languages.
My approach to psychotherapy is based on my strong belief that a therapist needs to be genuine, warm, caring and provide treatments that are backed by research and efficacy. As such, my practice is unique because I am that engaged and active therapist who provides cutting edge treatments such as mindfulness and cognitive behavior therapy for various psychological issues and disorders. To me, the relationship between the client and therapist is extremely important, and I utilize that dynamic to develop insight into to what my client is experiencing and how my client is relating to others.

Relationships are one of the most impactful areas of our lives. If you are experiencing a lot of stress in your relationships, I can imagine the toll it is taking on your overall wellbeing. The quality of our childhood bonds can determine the patterns of our relationships in adulthood. Human connections can improve. With the help of a judgment-free professional and implementation of new skills, relationships can become healing and transformative. I believe that growth is achieved by the pairing of insight and the implementation of tools and techniques that will be learned in psychotherapy.

Therapy is truly a unique process for each person. As a therapist, I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. My approaches are varied and individualized for each client, at the core I believe in taking a relational and client centered approach as my foundation for all my clients. I view myself as a guide in your processing of thoughts and feelings and take great pride in holding space for my clients when they are not feeling their best and really need that unbiased viewpoint. Therapy can get tough at times, it can feel worse before it gets better. Trust the process, I've seen the power of healing!

It takes courage to understand the need for healing. My mission in psychotherapy is to help you learn how to help yourself. It should be emphasized that psychotherapy is far from "one size fit all." Therefore, the art of change in psychotherapy is achieved through a thorough psychological assessment in order to apply the precise remedies to your specific challenges. As a result, healing is often achieved by re-conceptualizing your past and presence, but most importantly is to improve your outlook on the future. I have been practicing as a psychologist for 26 years, on three continents.

How can I find a therapist in California?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
