We collaborate together, targeting difficulties and utilizing personal strengths to support your vision and growth. Examples: parenting the child you have, changing repetitive, downward spirals in intimate relationships, taking on anxiety w/new strategies, setting boundaries and making connections, experimenting with new approaches to old problems. My approach is tailored to your needs, guided by my experience. Together we track progress. In practice since 1979, I see all ages and most problems. I enjoy long-term depth psychotherapy as well as short-term problem solving therapy. I work with parents, couples, families and individuals and consult for psychotherapists.

I offer a warm, relational, effective approach to therapy. So much can be healed with the careful attunement of a skilled therapist, and with the trust and safety that can built in the room together. I work as an integral therapist, combining modalities as needed for each Cl, including working with childhood wounds, with mindfulness, and depth work. I also utilize Brainspotting, a deep brain technique to efficiently process deeply rooted traumas and bring safety and relief to your nervous system. I draw on research in the areas of trauma, attachment, and the brain to ground my practice.

You met someone; you fell in love…is it time to build a family together? What about all the fights you have been having recently? Now you are a mother/father, juggling childcare, professional development, housework… what about US? What about ME? How to teach our kids when we don’t even agree? Things are not working out; Shall we give it one last try before separating? My partner wants to open up the relationship/marriage. What does it even mean?

Road to motherhood can be frustrating and challenging. Perhaps you are thinking about fertility treatments, IVF, IUI, or adoption. Maybe it has been a difficult road with miscarriages, unsuccessful egg retrievals or using a surrogate. It can be an overwhelming place to try to start a family, while encountering road bumps along the way. After the baby comes, we may experience exhaustion, sadness and even even a sense of isolation from our partner, friends and family. Growing a family takes a village.

All roads lead to Rome! It doesn't matter where we jump in, if you’re ready, we’ll get there. My approach is based on Attachment Theory: the idea that much of our conflict & distress stems from old wounds & unmet needs. De-coding this blueprint provides a path toward healing & fulfillment. Trauma, relational issues, addiction, the plight of the pre-teen/teen/YA, unleashing the creative spirit, & living life “on purpose” are all areas I am passionate about. I incorporate trauma-informed, conventional therapeutic modalities (IFS, EFT, DBT, ACT) and a Buddhist Psychology perspective. I am a rabid ally and advocate for equality.

During this period of uncertainty, now may be the ideal time to address anxiety, depression, unwanted habits, repair relationships, or face situations that have caught up with you or your family members. If that sounds quite difficult, but you are open to facing your fears, then we may be a good fit. I work with adults, children, teens, and families, including many first responders. I use evidence based models, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR to address the uncertainties of life that can occur with, family, job, relationships or trauma.

Most people are afraid of suffering. But suffering is a kind of mud to help the lotus flower of happiness grow. There can be no lotus flower without the mud." -Thich Nhat Hanh. We all have moments of feeling stuck and scared. Life brings us countless challenges and obstacles and sometimes we need support from others to help us get through difficult times. Seeking therapy is the beginning of you blooming into a lotus flower and rising from the ashes. You have the answers within you and the capacity to heal.

I often hear, "I wish I'd found you sooner!" because my clients experience measurable change so quickly and effortlessly. As a Hypnotherapist I help clients access the power of their subconscious mind where the roots of the problem are stored to quickly resolve the past, eliminate mental road blocks, build self esteem and create new, positive automatic behaviors. Hypnosis is fun and relaxing--like a spa day for your brain that brings real and lasting change to your life. Kids and teens love it! Call for a free 15-minute phone consultation to learn how I can help.

100% Online telehealth. Are you longing for clarity and ease? Most of our psychological pain and suffering, our inhibitions and limitations in achieving a satisfying life, are the result of primitive anxieties that we have carried within ourselves since the very time we were, indeed, really helpless. Through our work together, you'll learn the tools to understand the meaning underneath your emotions and move beyond feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Using both talk therapy and somatic (body-based) tools, our time together will be a place for you to heal, grow, and explore your inner world in a compassionate and non-judgmental space.

There are many factors that can lead a person to therapy. Perhaps you’re experiencing a persistent feeling of fear, loneliness, or anxiety, but can’t quite put your finger on where it’s coming from. You may have experienced a recent change or loss of a loved one, relationship, or job that is profoundly impacting you. Or, it could be that the voice of your inner critic is so loud that they/she/he is all you hear.

How can I find a therapist in California?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
