Parenting, intimacy, communication, self-regulation, AD/HD, learning differences, effects of childhood abuse, special education challenges, anxiety & depression, changing life-long relationship patterns--common reasons people work with me.
We collaborate together, targeting difficulties and utilizing personal strengths to support your vision and growth. Examples: parenting the child you have, changing repetitive, downward spirals in intimate relationships, taking on anxiety w/new strategies, setting boundaries and making connections, experimenting with new approaches to old problems. My approach is tailored to your needs, guided by my experience. Together we track progress. In practice since 1979, I see all ages and most problems. I enjoy long-term depth psychotherapy as well as short-term problem solving therapy. I work with parents, couples, families and individuals and consult for psychotherapists.

I take into account exploring and working on the issues affecting your mood, functioning, relationships and facilitating the learning of personal tools that would allow you to ventilate, understand and process experiences, as well as to promote concrete improvements and empowerment in your life.
We use to have hard times whenever faced by difficulties that challenge our ego. Most of the time, we tend to avoid coping with these challenges, or we do deal with them in destructive ways, mainly because of not having learned more assertive functional ways to take care of ourselves, relationships and circumstances in life. My approach is focused on promoting your insight about why you think, feel and react the ways you do, supporting you to take advantage of your own potentials, improve skills and guiding you on taking good care of your core needs and expectations.

While many of my clients have primary curiosities involving traumas, autism, ADHD and learning problems, therapy often focuses on anxiety that may be escalating symptoms; family stress/conflict; and other natural biproducts of neurodiversity.
I love working with children, adolescents and young women who have "behavioral problems," "worry too much," have "big emotions," or struggle socially. My clients typically experience more of the world and feel the world more deeply than others. While this can be scary and lead to challenging behaviors, over time, a big heart is a super-power. Parents who come to my office often wonder: a) "will this help?" b) "will you understand my child?" and "c) if you understand my kid, will you then judge me?" My answers are a) "yes. It can even be fun" b) "that's my main goal" c) "not a chance."

My staff and I specialize in providing neuropsychological assessments of traumatic brain injury, dementia, stroke, neurological illness, and ADHD/ learning disability.
Welcome, our practice at Insight Neuropsychology specializes in personalized neuropsychological assessment and treatment services to assist you in promoting your cognitive health. Our goal is to help you learn about how your brain is functioning, as insight is the first step in learning how to improve your mental functions. Neuropsychological assessment is one of the most sensitive instruments for detecting subtle cognitive deficits that are not obvious on MRI's or other brain scans, but which can have a large impact on a person's daily functioning. In addition to assessment, we also provide supportive counseling for patients and caregivers.

My areas of focus include psychological assessment, counseling therapy with pediatric, adolescent and adult clients, and African American psychology for clients with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, learning disabilities , blended families, and military or veteran related stressors.
Hi! In a world where so many of us regularly get the message that we are flawed, I think it is important to start by saying something that we might not hear so regularly, which is, that it is okay to be you. But if I’m being honest, being yourself is not always an easy thing to do. As a therapist, I place priority in creating a therapy environment where clients feel safe to share the most authentic versions of themselves without fear of judgement. In addition to a safe therapeutic space, my goal is to assist clients on their paths towards self-expression and self-acceptance no matter where they are in their journey.

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in California, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in California listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
