I have been in the helping professions since 2005 and as a licensed therapist for 16 years. I’ve worked with a variety of clients of different cultures throughout. Early in my training, there was a heavy emphasis on the Western approach to address symptomology, but now as my career and experience have grown, I blend Western approach with Eastern influence, emphasizing the link between the mind and the body, and how trauma lives within the body, not just in our minds.

Currently accepting new clients There are many paths to healing and change. The journey is an active one and there is success in simply taking the first step, acknowledging a change is needed. I've worked in mental health since 1988 and have worked with many different people and issues. I believe that developing awareness, of emotions, thoughts and behavior, is the starting place and that understanding where we come from, what got us here can be helpful, but changing how we feel today is the best way to have a sense of power. I specialize in somatic approaches to treatment of trauma. Call or email me for a consult today.

We all could benefit from talking to someone who understands what we are going through when life gets challenging. But more than that, we need someone to talk to who really values us deeply and offers practical tools each time. That is why resistant husbands continue to come see me and benefit from our time together. As well as young men, women, & adolescents in various stages of life struggles. My clients quickly realize they are genuinely cared for while receiving helpful, life changing insights that transform their thinking, how they approach life. Pillars Counseling is counseling to help enrich your life!

Hi! I'm so glad you are here. Starting therapy takes so much courage. I work with individuals, couples, and teens who want a deeper understanding of themselves, their emotions, and their relationships so they can move toward healthier patterns, greater self-awareness, and more meaningful connection. People often come to therapy feeling stuck in painful emotional or relational patterns that they can’t seem to break. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-worth, emotional overwhelm, attachment wounds, identity concerns, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others.

Sometimes it helps to talk about life's struggles and pain with someone who listens and understands. Sometimes we have become distant from the people most important to us and need help repairing relationships. Sometimes the people we needed to care for us have hurt us and we need help healing. Sometimes we have done things we regret and need help moving forward. Everyone desires to be known and accepted, but sometimes things happen to cause us to withdraw and give up on connecting with others. I would like to help you find healing, hope, and connection in your life.

Other common areas related to my focus revolve around men's issues in life, relationships, and work.
Porn addiction can slowly wear down trust in a relationship, leaving one partner feeling deeply hurt and inadequate while the other feels stuck in a loop of guilt, secrecy, and broken promises despite all their willpower. With time, this often turns into growing distance or even a sense of betrayal. If this is your reality, you are not alone. What may start as normal screen time or social media can slide into porn sites, cam sites, or OnlyFans and become a pattern that is hard to control, even for men disciplined in every other area of life.

I kept my office open during the COVID Crisis but when it ended people did not want to come to an office. I simi-retired & work through Zoom. I have lowered my fee to reflect the benefit of working online. While it is not my preferred way of working with clients, it allows me to continue to work. I left Saddleback Church where I was the Pastor of Pastoral Care for 17+years. I've been a licensed marriage & family counselor for 35+ years. I respect the fact that everyone needs to make a personal decision about their faith but I do approach therapy using Christian perspectives & values.

Being felt, heard and seen is the most important part of healing. I believe in giving an attuned presence to help you be the most embodied you can be. This process happens through emotional attunement and somatic mirroring. My training with Thomas Hubl has been instrumental in my own psycho-spiritual transformation. I have experienced my own wounds and view myself as a wounded healer. My own self growth journey and spiritual engagement has made my presence as a therapist one that is likely unique for you. I see wounded humans in a different light. My style of therapy integrates many modalities that help you reach your potential.

I like to approach our sessions with a structure agenda and allow for the client to take ownership of the sessions. I like to assign homework assignments to reinforce concepts discussed during the session. I also use check in all through out the session to assess how the client is responding to the treatment strategies. In addition, I like to motivate client by helping them break down their overall goals into small and attainable objectives.

Porn addiction can quietly erode trust in a relationship, leaving one partner feeling hurt and inadequate while the other feels caught in a cycle of guilt, secrecy, and broken promises despite all their willpower. Over time, this often leads to growing disconnection or even a sense of betrayal. If this is your reality, you are not alone. ; Men's issues- including relationships, connecting with or managing emotions, career issues and life transitions.
I use the power of mindful self-awareness and the wisdom held in your body to help you create the changes you want in yourself and your life. Current neuroscience research supports this approach, showing that more meaningful, lasting change is created when we engage more of the body/mind.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
