I am trained in CBT, EMDR, Gottman method, & Attachment Based Therapy.
My therapeutic approach mainly focuses on helping my clients identify their strengths to help alleviate anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am a firm believer that our childhood experiences contribute to our beliefs, behavioral patterns, and selecting a romantic partner. Therapy is a process! To allow ourselves to be intimate and vulnerable with someone about our experiences and trauma can be daunting. As a therapist, it is my goal to help validate, create a safe environment and help understand aspects of lived experiences.

I am trained in EMDR and Emotion Focused Couples Therapy, and am certified in Prepare/Enrich couples and premarital counseling.
Life is surprising, and all of us encounter various struggles along the way. It is brave to seek help in the midst of those struggles, and though it can be difficult to know who to trust when we are in need, professional counselors can be an extraordinarily beneficial resource. It is my greatest honor in life to be a counselor, and to walk alongside those courageous souls who acknowledge that they want change, and to assist them in creating the lives they deserve.

I work eclectically, with a strong preference for somatic therapy, mindfulness, and CBT, incorporating EMDR when clinically appropriate.
You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself and others. Trauma, anxiety, grief, and life transitions can leave your nervous system on constant alert — making it hard to feel safe or grounded in your own skin.
Something in you is ready for something different, even if you're not sure where to start.
Therapy can offer a space to slow down, reconnect with your inner world, and build steadiness from the inside out — so you can move through life with more clarity, ease, and trust in yourself.

I know that there are times when life can be difficult. My deepest professional desire is to give you hope and to let you know that you are not alone. Give me a chance to help and together we can move through the difficult parts of life, so you can experience growth and healing. I have experienced many grief and losses throughout my life from marriage, divorce, raising children, empty nesting, grand-babies, and sadly walking through the Hospice process while losing both parents to cancer. I can utilize my pains, struggles and triumphs to encourage you that you CAN do this and there is hope when there feels like there is none.

I am in the process of EMDR training to expand evidence based interventions to help clients heal from their past.
Are you constantly feeling distracted? Is it hard to remember important dates or what your partner has shared with you? Does your partner express feeling unheard? Is it hard to manage your mood? Do you find it difficult to productively resolve conflicts with your partner due to emotional outbursts? Is your home cluttered and stressful to be in? Sometimes the non-ADHD partner can take on a parent role, which neither partner enjoys. Do you find it difficult to connect emotionally and physically with one another? If so, I would like to offer interventions to help.

Through therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems therapy and EMDR, I can help individuals and couples explore past influences, reframe negative patterns, and develop healthier, more adaptive ways of relating to themselves and others.
People develop in response to the environments and experiences they are exposed to. Early relationships, often shape an individual’s emotional regulation, attachment style and coping mechanisms. They also influence how people perceive themselves, others and the world around them. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, understanding a client's background and experiences is important in helping them navigate present challenges. By exploring these foundational influences, I can assist clients in gaining insight into their behavior patterns, emotional responses and relational difficulties.

I am a firm believer that therapy is an individual experience and there is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach for every person. Bearing that in mind, I like to take a collaborative approach to our work together and invite your feedback. It is important to me that our sessions feel like both an effective and a valuable use of your time. In our sessions, you can expect to develop practical coping strategies, improve your emotional well-being, and make meaningful changes in your life. I like to use humor and curiosity to make our time together engaging and insightful, helping you understand yourself and your relationships better.

When words are not enough, Dan may use EMDR- or Brainspotting-informed approaches.
Dan is an associate clinician at Gentle Healing Space, where he provides therapy for capable, responsible adults, high school–aged teens, and families who seem to be holding things together while feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, or burnout. Many are managing school or career pressure, family expectations, caregiving for aging parents, or life between cultures. For some, this is shaped by immigrant, bicultural, or intergenerational experiences. Over time, this pressure may lead to overthinking, relationship strain, fatigue, or feeling disconnected. Dan helps clients slow down, understand what they are carrying, and move ahead.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
