It is much harder for us to show kindness and compassion than it is to judge ourselves because we are not strong enough to push through everything with a smile. I hope to assist you with learning how to extend the kindness you give to others to yourself. I have experience with individuals across the lifespan experiencing significant emotional distress and with those struggling with transitioning between stages of life. I focus on ambiguous grief to assist anyone struggling to identify and establish the role they want to have in their own lives and create sustainable change.
I utilize an eclectic approach in counseling to address your specific needs. My primary interventions are based on individual need to create compassion for self and cognitive behavioral techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts. I place emphasis on distress tolerance and mindfulness with psychoeducation on development and neuropsychology.
My goal as a therapist is to address the client holistically and provide support in individual growth. On your first visit, expect to explore possible goals for treatment and to identify what has been helpful in previous therapy. I want each client to actively participate in the growth process and learn how to be an effective self-advocate.
