I am passionate about partnering with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, relational issues and trauma .
Do you find yourself feeling fearful and not knowing why? Do you question your behavior and feel like your reactions are abnormal? Does it feel like no one understands and that life is too overwhelming sometimes? You're not alone, and it's time to talk about it.

Therapy can be a very healing experience, especially for those who have experienced sexual trauma .
Are you "sick of feeling sick". Do you have a wounded heart due to frequent disappointments in relationships. Do you feel invisible and struggle with setting boundaries and asserting yourself. In my practice, women who have been traumatized/abused and desire to finally start living, typically see great progress. I help you gain new insights and find way for you to manage your unique anxiety and depression. Unfortunately, if you have endured abuse, you might subconsciously be attracting and be attracted to someone who is going to perpetuate the abuse. It feels familiar and consequently "safe", even though it is not.

Both methods are effective in treating trauma and reducing symptoms, in a developmentally appropriate way.
Is your child feeling fearful and anxious? Does he/she have a hard time separating from you? Has your child gone through a traumatic event? Is your teenager appearing to withdraw, and is easily irritable? Is your family currently going through a major life-changing transition? Do you, as a parent/caregiver, feel overwhelmed and helpless? And no matter what you do, your child continues to struggle? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you have made the right choice to be here. You've probably been debating about seeking help for a while. I am glad you found me and have taken the courageous step to seek support.

Be a better you. People seek out therapy for several reasons. Self-exploration, growth, change, and learning new coping strategies are just a few reasons. Finding a therapist to guide and support you along the way will make these tasks simpler and possibly even enjoyable. I treat individuals, couples, and families looking to find relief from emotional and psychological troubles and become their best self. While treatment for Asperger's Syndrome, Anxiety, Trauma , and Depression are my specialties, I also work with people who struggle with addiction, relationship problems, sexuality uncertainties, and low self-esteem.

I help my clients combat and overcome a variety of conditions/issues including depression and mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, relationship/communication problems, life-transitions, trauma recovery, anger management difficulties, chronic overeating and other self-defeating behaviors.
Therapy. That can be a pretty scary idea. For some there's still a stigma attached to pursuing professional counseling...you have to be crazy, right? Believe it or not, the healthiest, most courageous people I know are in counseling. Why? People in counseling recognize that there is a problem, are willing to work hard to find a solution, and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty in the process. I can't promise you that therapy is easy but I can promise I'll get my hands dirty right along with you. Make the investment in yourself today.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
