Specializing in EMDR, addiction, and LGBTQ-affirming care.
Therapy is serious work, but it doesn’t always have to feel heavy. Real change happens in a strong, trusting relationship where you feel safe, supported, and maybe even able to laugh along the way. I help clients struggling with self-image and self-esteem, and am especially passionate about working with people in all stages of recovery—whether newly sober or years into sobriety. Additionally, I'm EMDR trained and use this modality to guide clients in processing past traumatic experiences that negatively impact daily life. I also hold an MBA and incorporate financial psychology to explore the emotional impact of money on well-being.

The therapeutic relationship is one that I hold close to my heart, as it is a piece of the puzzle that allowed me to flourish into my true self. I know firsthand what it is like to struggle and feel as though the obstacles ahead appear to be near impossible, whether big or small. While in the moment they may seem insurmountable, truly these experiences become the seeds of transformation and the foundation for stepping into our greatest possibilities in life.

Substance use compounds the recovery process.
Somatic Experiencing (SE) takes healing to a deeper level. Combined with 'top-down' approaches, SE helps identify strengths and intentions beneath painful survival patterns. Shame, fear and anger transform into vital life energy. Surviving becomes thriving. As a private practice psychotherapist based in SF & Marin for several years, I was fortunate to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. During the pandemic, my practice shifted to primarily virtual.

Is alcohol or another substance holding you back?
Many successful professionals don't address substance problems until they become major issues because they don't feel a residential rehab stay or participating in Alcoholics Anonymous is a good fit for them. We can work together in a private and confidential setting to achieve your goals. As a former successful executive, I understand your unique situation.

My focus is on helping people navigate challenges around trauma, substance use, shame, sexuality, and relationship dynamics—especially those rooted in attachment wounds.
These approaches help us connect with the nervous system, emotions, and different parts of ourselves to create deeper, lasting change. I tailor therapy to what feels right for you, whether that’s slowing down and tuning into your body, processing old wounds, or making sense of patterns that no longer serve you.

While I work with many different issues and clients, my primary specialty is addiction.
I work compassionately and creatively with clients, to help them identify areas in their lives in which they feel stuck. Many times, clients come to therapy because they feel something in their life isn't working, or they feel a pain in which they cannot find the root of. I help clients identify the obstacles that keep them feeling stuck, and work collaboratively to help them work through these barriers. My work is client centered, and I work dynamically with each individual or couple I see.

Looking at all these photos and profiles can be overwhelming especially when you are anxious, depressed, or arguing with your partner constantly. Here's a simple solution: Call me. Over the years couples have told me things like: “I get blamed for everything,” “I’m always on the lookout for the next sneak attack,” and “The passion has died.” I help couples work to improve their relationships. I have developed a program where you learn how to be confident in your relationship, reduce daily stress, feel like you can count on one another, and get your sex life back. A phone call could be your first step toward feeling better.

Addiction Therapists
What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.
How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.
How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.
How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
