Therapy is dynamic, collaborative and always needs to be tailored to the unique needs of the individual. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. In supporting clients to meet their goals and improve their functioning, practical skills are often needed in addition to self-reflection and insight. My specializations include working with clients who suffer from issues related to anxiety, depression, PTSD , life transitions, identity development, gender exploration, and working with the LGBTQIA+ community. Witnessing clients celebrate their own successes and celebrating with them is the most rewarding experience for me as a therapist.

I am passionate about helping individuals who have experienced trauma and I understand the strong connection between how childhood events can affect adult functioning.
I believe it takes an immense amount of courage to ask for help when you feel like you are struggling. Life can be unfair, relentless, scary, and exhausting at times. As a therapist, I believe that exploring the root of those negative feelings, thoughts, and/or events that happened to you can be the driving force for establishing insight and positive change in yourself and in your interpersonal relationships. I aim to create a safe, warm, and transparent space for you to feel comfortable, confident, and cared for in.

With specialized experience & training working with individuals who have endured trauma , I also specialize in anxiety, women’s issues, & highly sensitive persons.
Whatever your reasons for seeking therapy at this time, I honor your courage to do so. Perhaps you seek a “coming home” to yourself in a way that feels safe & meaningful. Perhaps you long to understand yourself in relationships or in the world around you. Or perhaps, you wish you make meaning of wounding or painful experiences. I believe that while we are incredibly resilient as humans, our pain is not meant to be held alone; as we need a present & safe other to help us hold, bear, & process these experiences. Thus, I am honored to walk alongside you as we explore & process all that you hold within.

I treat symptoms of childhood trauma /complex PTSD , such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and addictions, using EMDR, parts work, DBT, inner-child work, and attachment-based therapies.
Many of us don’t realize how events from our childhood affect the quality of our lives. You wake up most days feeling worthless, angry, fearful, anxious, insecure, and sad. These feelings negatively affect your behavior … you are unmotivated, impulsive, reactive, and take too many risks. These behaviors are negatively affecting every aspect of your life. Bills are piling up, you go from one job to the next, one relationship to the next, and may even be abusing drugs and alcohol.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
