I enjoy working with children, teens, and young adults who are coping with trauma, anxiety/depression, chronic illness, identity issues, and/or
relationship
/familial difficulties.
I believe it takes an immense amount of courage to ask for help when you feel like you are struggling. Life can be unfair, relentless, scary, and exhausting at times. As a therapist, I believe that exploring the root of those negative feelings, thoughts, and/or events that happened to you can be the driving force for establishing insight and positive change in yourself and in your interpersonal relationships. I aim to create a safe, warm, and transparent space for you to feel comfortable, confident, and cared for in.

My approach works well with individuals, families and
couples
as well as parents.
Everyday tasks such as going to work and spending time with friends or loved ones can be difficult when we are struggling with our self-worth and cannot seem to find meaning in our life. We may feel lonely, and overwhelmed and perhaps the solutions we have used in the past are not helping. Are you ready to reach out to find someone who can assist you in making sense of your confusion? Whether you are overtaken by emotions, feelings of self-doubt or any other interpersonal struggle, I would be honored to work along side you while we explore your life and create self-awareness and change.

I believe in strengthening the
relationship
between parents and children in addition to helping parents manage and change undesirable behaviors.
Is your child experiencing problems at school, difficulty making or keeping friends, tantrums, constant worrying or nightmares? I have a passion for working with children and families, and I'm here to help. There is so much pressure today to be a "perfect" parent, and admitting that you need support can be difficult. My goal is to create a safe space for you and your child to work together to problem-solve and get through challenging times.

You and your
partner
sit silently on the sofa. The TV is on, & you're both looking at your phones. Though in the same room, you might as well be a world apart. You're feeling neglected, unappreciated, & lonely. There's little affection between you these days. You try to focus on all the positives in your life, but your unhappiness is becoming the elephant in the room - harder and harder to ignore. You long to feel desired, appreciated, & a priority in your
partner
's life. You're afraid to talk to your
partner
about your true feelings as conversations are often misunderstood or full of conflict. You don't know where to turn.

Cultivating emotional health, growing vibrantly in daily life requires a harmony of being emotionally, mentally and spiritually grounded as a human being. As lovely as it sounds, this is challenging, if not altogether a daunting process for most of us. Especially with increasing depression, anxiety, life stressors and many other barriers we struggle with. How do we begin? What can be said and how do we embark on creating a healthier
relationship
with our true authentic self. How do we learn to connect to others and the world to nurture wellbeing? These are the questions to search out and discover. So breathe...and let's begin!

I have received training in Emotion Focused Therapy for
Couples
as well as Reflective Parenting; a powerful tool in strengthening parent's relationships with their children.
It takes real courage to stop pretending you have it all together and shake hands with deep sadness or childhood trauma. I believe many emotions serve as flags indicating an opportunity for us to learn and gain more understanding about ourselves. Whether you are dealing with disappointment, sorrow, conflict, resentment, depression or anxiety, exploration of these tender spots can be a path to growth and change. Therapy can provide a meaningful relational setting where your unique experience and feelings can be expressed and understood, thereby increasing your ability to face life's inevitable challenges.

I work with individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety,
relationship
concerns, communication issues, parenting, and addiction.
It can be challenging to find a therapist who can offer support and guidance specific to your personal needs. I specialize in working with individuals and families dealing with many life issues. Consider having a session so you can decide if I provide the warm therapeutic
relationship
you desire.
When we seek therapy it is usually because we reach a point when our problems and challenges outweigh our ability to cope with them. Sometimes we feel stuck in old patterns of behavior or relationships that no longer work for us and we wish to make changes. I serve as a collaborator with you on your journey of self discovery as you find new ways of being and making more appropriate life choices. I provide safety and support as you experience psychological understanding and growth and remain with you as you develop ways to handle life's burdens in more empowering ways.

New clients welcome! I support
couples
and individuals who need help communicating/setting boundaries within challenging relationships. Are you walking on eggshells and can't bring up any issue without it turning into a fight? Or do you avoid talking about what matters to you at all anymore, fearing the same old patterns that only seem to make things worse? Regardless, you feel sad, lonely, and hopeless in your efforts to finally be seen, heard, and understood. I can help guide you back to mutuality, love, & understanding, by strengthening the connection you have with yourself, your
partner
, and those who matter most to you.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
