Growth and healing take time, and sometimes it can feel most overwhelming when we are in the midst of this process. On the journey towards change, we may have moments of feeling deeply lost, disconnected, or alone. I believe that the ability to shift struggle into strength is shaped by the relationship that you have with yourself. I aim to support teens and young adults in developing the skills and insight to navigate anxiety and depression as they adjust to many new types of life stressors. I hope to illuminate worthiness, value systems, and the capacity for resilience by breaking through barriers rooted in shame and self-doubt.

I have worked with adults and children for over 10 years in the areas of trauma, anxiety , depression, victims of crime, relational issues (couples), attachment issues (child caregiver) and family dynamics.
My goal as a psychotherapist is to provide you with a genuine, warm, caring experience where your thoughts and feelings can be held and mended over time. Sharing the negatives of one's life and self can be such a debilitating experience. Whether you just need a listening ear or a more directive approach, I am honored to be a witness and participant in whatever modality you feel works for you. Working with adults and children over the years has changed my belief of pain and trauma. If you are ready to take that leap and trust in me, I would be honored to accompany your healing journey.

In addition, my training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness allows me to effectively provide treatment to people living with anxiety and depression.
Accepting new clients! Even on your best days, it’s tough looking for a therapist who will be the right fit for you. When suffering, it can sometimes feel nearly impossible. I understand this experience firsthand and hope that my profile will provide you with the information you need to find relief. As a Latinx single mother, embracing and embodying Hispanic culture is a core value of mine. Having raised my children without the presence of a second parent, I have experienced juggling work and parenting. While balancing my life I have maintained my identity, sense of self, and overall well-being.

It takes real courage to stop pretending you have it all together and shake hands with deep sadness or childhood trauma. I believe many emotions serve as flags indicating an opportunity for us to learn and gain more understanding about ourselves. Whether you are dealing with disappointment, sorrow, conflict, resentment, depression or anxiety , exploration of these tender spots can be a path to growth and change. Therapy can provide a meaningful relational setting where your unique experience and feelings can be expressed and understood, thereby increasing your ability to face life's inevitable challenges.

At Lifespan, I treat anxiety , depression, addiction and co-occurring disorders, relationship problems, stress-related symptoms, women's health issues, and adolescence issues. In session we take the time to let your soul catch up with you—so you can share what's on your mind, organize your thoughts, and listen to yourself. This is a gift you give yourself, stepping out of the demanding pace of our culture to turn inward. The ultimate goal is to access your “inner therapist” so that you can rely upon yourself and your own strengths. Change is possible!

As we face uncertainty in our lives now more than ever, it is essential that we learn tools to help us capture internal peace, despite external circumstances. I recognize the true power that curiosity and a listening ear can have in honoring our life experiences while tapping into our inner strengths and resources. I assist children, adolescents, and young adults in navigating life transitions, stress, depression and anxiety from an atmosphere of compassion and acceptance. I guide parents in finding a deeper understanding of their child’s behavior - allowing them to truly “see” their child while helping them cope with big feelings.

My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative, empathetic and unique to each individual's personal needs. During our process, we will explore emotions and relationships that impact your life. Together we will clarify the development of thoughts and feelings and understand how they shape us.

Does anxiety keep you awake at night? Do you worry about what you should or shouldn't eat? Do you feel guilty over your food choices and feel the need to compensate by exercise, restriction or purging? Do you like the person you see in the mirror? Together we will explore your need to focus on food choices, calories, exercise and weight. There are many reasons that contribute to your emotional struggle that have nothing to do with food or how you look in the mirror. I will help you to discover the root of your anxiety and emotional pain so that you can learn to love and accept yourself as worthwhile and perfectly imperfect.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
