We work together, and my role is to explore options with you, help you weigh the challenges and benefits, give you tools, and support you in making the tough choices that lead to the outcomes you desire.

Despite your best efforts, are you feeling anxious or overwhelmed? Unfulfilled or stuck? Are you struggling in your current relationship or longing to find one that's meaningful and loving? Whether or not your childhood was traumatic or unsupportive, the coping and relational skills you learned back then may be holding you back today. Sometimes just a few sessions will get you through a rough time in life - and lead to growth and healing.

Whether you’re navigating the stress of college, graduate school, or relationship challenges, therapy can be a space to slow down, reflect, and grow. My hope is that you feel supported, understood, and empowered throughout the process. Many of the people I support are navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, perfectionism, or people-pleasing patterns that leave them feeling stuck or disconnected. As a therapist, I help clients explore how past and present experiences influence the patterns they want to change.

Are you feeling stuck? People come to me for a lot of different reasons but usually they describe feeling stuck in some way despite their best efforts to shift things. Maybe you are in a crisis or dealing with a transition, maybe your relationships are complex and dissatisfying. Whatever your reason for reaching out, I work to create a non-judgmental environment so that whatever parts of your story need attention can be effectively explored in ways that are powerful and meaningful to you.

What you resist, persists and what you confront transforms. This is one of life’s biggest lessons that many of us learn the hard way. It turns out we're really good at avoiding emotional pain. But sometimes we can't. So what if you did the opposite? What if you allowed yourself to feel, and sit with the pain instead of in it, and what if you asked those parts why they are showing up? Our emotional parts can provide us with important data to help protect us and keep us safe. As we reflect on and move through these emotions we begin to understand that all emotions are fleeting, useful, and nothing we can’t handle.

21st century therapy is less "what is wrong with you" and more "what has happened to you"? Are you feeling stuck? Is your relationship stagnant or in crisis? Are you the adult child of a narcissist? Are you the parent of an adult child with a serious mental illness or an adult child in addiction or recovery ? Are you having issues with career burnout? Are you ready for change?

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
