I became a therapist because I am a firm believer in the power of human connection. I understand that the most important thing is the therapeutic relationship. Therefore, I provide a gentle, non-judgmental approach to make clients feel safe and heard. This allows clients to develop trust with another person, which ultimately leads them to grow and to believe and trust in their own inner voice and intuition.

Such struggles include anxiety, depression, gender identity, sexual health, medical health, pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.
Therapy is a space where you can to talk openly about what is working and not working in your life. We are on this journey together. Most of us have grown up with messages that cause us to question our deepest selves. I use a trauma informed, sex positive, LGBTQ+ affirmative approach to talk about marginalized experiences and build empowerment.

We all experience anxiety; it is our built-in alarm system.
You've always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself. - Glinda For over 25 years, I've had the privilege of walking alongside clients as they navigate life's challenges. The most rewarding part of my work is 'graduating' them, celebrating their success in achieving their therapeutic goals. While saying goodbye is always tinged with sadness, it's a powerful reminder of their resilience and growth. I'm deeply grateful to have been a part of their journey towards improved self-esteem, coping skills, and overall well-being.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I have dedicated my career to helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of mental health and relationships. For the past decade, I have worked in a jail setting, where I have gained invaluable experience in crisis management. My work in this challenging environment has honed my skills in de-escalation and conflict resolution, and has taught me the importance of compassion and empathy in even the most difficult of situations. In addition to my work in the jail system, I have also maintained a thriving private practice, where I take an eclectic approach to therapy.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
