Analytical psychology emphasizes completeness, not perfection. Because psychological insight and self-knowledge are essential for health and vitality, it's lucky our psyches respond favorably to attention and reflection! Positive, effective, long lasting change is created. Research shows nightly dreams provide a running commentary on everyday life. Dreams anticipate, sometimes warn, and often help in resolving problems. They help you relate to the "rest of you", the part that operates out of awareness, sometimes causing symptoms, or taking over and becoming destructive. These parts appear increasingly frightening when pushed away.

The interface between contemporary psychology and the wisdom of contemplative practice spirituality is central to my work with individuals and couples and to my general approach to therapy. With the use of MINDFULNESS based therapy and a non-judgmental and non-pathological approach I create a healing and supportive environment were growth and transformation can take place through our in depth process of exploration. We explore and map how you function using tools from EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, spirituality and more.
Our pursuit of a good life can be deeply affected by the current world situations. We may be struggling not only in our personal lives but also by difficult worldly events such as climate change, the economy, retirement, health care and many more. When the world doesn't feel safe, it's more difficult to tolerate the emotions, sensations, and thoughts arising inside of us, making us turn toward old coping mechanisms This will not heal us. We need to build the confidence to be with and understand our inner experiences no matter what! This is our pathway to truly heal and live a more peaceful and meaningful life in the world.

Spirituality is my area of expertise and I integrate it with my approach if my client is open to it.
Create joy and inner calm in your life. My role is to guide you in coming back to your wholeness. I am passionate about helping you heal your wounded parts. This wounding may show up as depression, anxiety, or PTSD in adulthood. My approach is heart-based; it is a fusion of experiential, somatic/body-oriented (releasing emotional pain which is stored in our bodies), gestalt, cognitive behavioral, EMDR, hypnosis, and internal family systems approaches. I don't focus on analyzing nor intellectualizing your past. We visit the past to let go of any pain or heal trauma.

I am uniquely qualified to work with spirituality , and am educated in shamanic work, religion, magic & mythology and I incorporate that into my work.
Here you are, looking for answers, looking for hope. Self esteem is the container in which we strive to live. Acts of self empowerment are those things we use to build this container. Care, compassion and love support growth and empowerment. Come on in! Let’s talk about building an awesome and vibrant life for you. A safe space to grow in. I work from an interactive and relational standpoint. I don’t just sit there and reflect, nod my head and say ‘tell me more’. Here we explore who you are, who you want to be, who you were, and all the bridges and tunnels between those identities. Let’s examine and build on who you are meant to be.

We practice from an integrated approach to wellness. We combine psychology with hypnotherapy, dreamwork and spirituality . The goal is to tap into the wisdom and healing powers that reside just below conscious awareness. The emergence of self-compassion, self-love and forgiveness builds the foundation that supports transformational healing. We trust each person is the expert in their own life and each person holds the answer they are seeking. Our role is to help those with whom we work to uncover the wisdom and resources they possess.

Many people come to me wondering why they're unhappy, anxious, or unable to find fulfillment. The problem may seem obvious but a solution impossible. The same painful experiences repeat themselves, but why? And how to change them? If we meet, I will work together to discover how you can come to grips with whatever is troubling you. In doing so, you may discover, as sometimes happens, that there are ways to experience yourself and others that are genuinely different from what you've known thus far.

Deciding to pursue psychotherapy is an important and personal decision. There are various reasons for which someone may pursue psychotherapy, whether it is to cope with current life stressors or to seek support in managing ongoing concerns. Regardless of your reason for pursuing therapy, you should not feel alone in the process and I look forward to working with you on meeting your goals. I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) licensed clinical psychologist who works with children/adolescents, families and young adults, using an integrative approach and tailoring my work to each person's unique story.

The clients I work with are tired of feeling numb, overwhelmed, and distracted. They are beginning to question their lifetime of people-pleasing, self-sabotaging, anxiety-related tendencies. And they are looking to experience major shifts in their thinking and major aha moments of discovering themselves. They want to live a full life where they are the one who gets to have the job they love, the relationships that are authentic, and the dreams that are reality.

There are times in life when we feel lost and down, when we feel the same story unfold again and again and we desire some change. We may also continuously carry the wounds of previous trauma. As a psychologist and Jungian analyst, my approach is to develop a therapeutic alliance with my patients in a climate of trust and respect for their unfolding life story. Progressively, we develop a relationship with some underlying, hidden aspects of the personality which could, among other avenues, express themselves in dreams. Ultimately, the respectful relationship to one's center, the Self, brings healing and a creative transformation.

My primary focus is rooted in the belief that identifying strengths and resiliencies are key components to working effectively in the therapeutic format. We will stay focused on using these abilities to inform decision making while also exploring the impact of personal challenges. I like to use curiosity, intuition and empathic insight to continually deepen our therapeutic connection, and to offer homework to keep the work alive during the week. Working in this dynamic style ideally creates an increased sense of Self, motivation for change, and a reduction of current problematic symptoms.

There are points in life where you may ask yourself if the path you're on is leading you where you need to be going. You may be asking yourself questions like: "Is this the best I can expect from my marriage?" "Is this what I'm supposed to be doing with my life?" "Is the work I'm doing the work I was born to be doing?" I will work with you both to get answers to these questions and to more fully accept the answers you receive.

Most of us hit seasons where we feel stuck, empty, or deeply anxious. My job is to help clients get unstuck and to find a ground of meaning, motivation, and a new vision for healthy relationships. For some clients, therapy is brief and very solution-focused (5-12 sessions), though my preference is to work with clients interested in deeper change, which often requires more time. For many, we explore more deeply their personality structure, the early roots of their relational styles, and the spiritual habits of the heart that often make the difference between thriving and merely surviving. Let's get to work!

Let's face it. Life is a juggling act between home, work, school, friends and family. Our bodies are bioenergetic systems geared for balance. When things go well, our energy flows and we feel good. When life happens and stress occurs, we can feel anxiety, depression and physical pain. We reach outside ourselves for relief when going inside is the answer. If you are ready for change and are committed to making that happen, please make an appointment today. My approach is wholistic and I use Energy Psychology (Tapping), Zen Buddhism and Mindfulness to achieve a client's goals.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
