I have found that working together we can get to know these internalized thoughts, feelings, and behaviors (parts) to allow self-compassion and self-energy to grow, which ultimately leads to a better relationship with yourself and your relationships.
It is brave of you to seek therapy. It is not easy and choosing a therapist and taking the time to find the right space takes time and effort as you look to find the right fit for your personal journey. It is courageous to start this journey! I enjoy working with creative and artistic people who have experienced trauma in their past.

Many are unsure if they have an addiction, or if they really are an alcoholic. Sometimes you drink too much, have regrets the next day, feel embarrassed about losing control and worry about your health. Drinking and using to numb the pain leaves you feeling very alone. You are sick of hiding, of keeping secrets. Should you stop altogether or figure out how to moderate? I can help this exploration in a non-judgmental way to find answers. Many people in recovery are often disappointed their ‘problems’ are not fixed; they feel stuck, depressed and anxious and relationship challenges persist.

I work with individuals and couples .
I want to start by thanking you for taking the time out of your day to get to know me. When I was sixteen years old I struggled with a depression so deep I thought I would never escape from it. Through the help of a therapist I was able to see that my darkness was not my destiny. Whether it be from stress, loss, disposition, painful memories, or difficult circumstance, we all suffer from time to time throughout our lives. Sometimes what we need is someone to witness that struggle, and walk with us for a time. It would be my honor to walk with you.

I look to shift couples from going head to head to standing side by side.
Want to improve how you manage your relationships? Want to survey the relationship before you say "I do"? Maybe you're overwhelmed by stress or struggling with your inner critic. Are there family issues or childhood wounds (root issues) you'd like to address? I want to help you. In addition to education and training, I have personal experience with surviving life's challenges. I refer to therapy as holding someone's hands while they find their feet. Therapy is work, but we will walk through it together.

Perhaps your child has lost an important relationship , recently joined your family, started a new school, experienced a trauma, or just seems distressed.
Children are not mini-adults, despite their best efforts to convince us otherwise! Children are ever-changing, efficiently growing into their next phase of development every-single-day. Imagine, tripling in size and skills in just a year! To make things more complicated, children learn, grow, and communicate through play. No wonder it can be tough to fully know how to help our children through life's surprises. These fast changes can also impact our relationship with our partner , as keeping up with kids is tough!

Are you struggling with managing sexually compulsive and/or addictive behaviors? Despite negative consequences in your life and relationships, do these behaviors persist? Are these sexual compulsions leading to isolation, or feelings of guilt and shame? Or maybe you are the partner of an addict, and you have just discovered your significant other has been engaging in secret sexual exploits throughout your relationship . A discovery of this magnitude is traumatic and extremely devastating. It can leave you feeling alone, isolated, and as if no one could possibly understand. You're not alone, and you're not the only one.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
