I utilize a trauma -informed lens and often utilize EMDR to help my clients reprocess traumatic or distressing events.
Whether this is your first time starting therapy or your hundredth visit, it can be a tiresome task to find a new therapist. Our mental health needs are not the same and your therapist should not be either. If you have found it challenging to remain present, I hope to help you process and resolve any traumatic or challenging life experiences that are making everyday living difficult. I hope to guide you in building a sense of safety within yourself again and finding closure within the areas you need.

Painful or frightening memories can be healed with specialized therapy. Physical or emotional trauma can cause recurring nightmares and sleep disturbance, feelings of fear, guilt, shame, or physical pain. It can lead to reliving the experience over and over again, and may result in avoiding people, places or activities that remind you of what happened. Therapy can relieve the symptoms, frightening thoughts and feelings. It can help you to regain self-confidence and feel greater joy in life.

The last year has been hard on almost all of us. Has trauma , loss or grief made it difficult to live the life you really want? How do you imagine your life changing or being more satisfying? My approach is respectful, encouraging and focused on growth. I'm trained in what are called "power therapies." EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and BSP (Brainspotting) have the potential to heal deeply, from within the brain and body, and create understanding and relief.

We will also explore themes and patterns that perpetuates the mental distress such as childhood upbringing, traumatic life events or intergenerational trauma .
It’s been awhile since you can remember feeling genuine happiness or feel a sense of direction in your life. As far as other people know, things are going well and you have things figured out. But in reality, you feel isolated and alone because the things that keep you up at night are or from other people are difficult to express. Or the people around you are not equipped to understand what you’re going through. It may be an overwhelming fear of failure, managing parenting challenges, or managing expectations from your parents, or work.

With life and relationships comes vulnerability, and too often, pain and feelings of betrayal. These experiences can become defining factors in our relationships with ourselves and others moving forward, when not processed in a caring, self-compassionate way. Experiences of hurt, or even trauma , can leave us feeling small, lonely, and often with feelings of secrecy or shame. I work collaboratively with each client to help them unlock old patterns or experiences of pain to find more awareness about what is holding them back in their lives, and to move forward fully.

I help individuals address anxiety, panic, trauma , dissociation, DID, self esteem, depression, eating disorders/unhealthy relationship with food, and body image.
I'm licensed in CA and WA. Sometimes, despite best intentions and attempts, making change is not successful. It can be hard to get to where you want to go: less depression or anxiety, better relationships with others and yourself, with food, your body. Maybe the past keeps intruding upon the present, even though it seems like it should be resolved by now. Maybe you don’t feel quite like the best version of yourself and you don’t know why. I'm here to help you get reconnected to yourself, find the inner wisdom that I know exists within you. I don't know all the answers, but I know how to help you find your own answers.

I vividly remember the first time I used this website to seek out a therapist. I was filled with despair, intense fear, shame and insecurity but had no consciousness into these emotions. I was so disconnected from my body and my spirit. My thoughts were racing and I was stuck in patterns of self-sabotage and harmful coping mechanisms. It took everything out of me to make eye contact with another person as I began to speak about this. I will never forget the compassion I experienced from my first therapist as she held sacred space for me to begin this process. I strive to embody the same deep compassion for each therapy client I see.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
