I believe our mind & body are completely intertwined. I believe there are limitless possibilities within every human being. You are not your symptoms. I do not believe in limits set by a diagnosis or label for you to identify yourself by, instead I help you find your true nature, your Self, & peace within in the midst of difficulty, change, loss, - life! I've been a psychologist for over 25 years, yet the way I help people today is entirely different than a decade ago. Today I help adults using brain-based talk therapy & mindfulness, using an integrated approach to emotional wellness by focusing on your whole self and life today.

Accepting New Clients / Aceptando Nuevos Clientes! Your stories, pain and feelings are valid. Not everyone is going to understand the trauma you have experienced or the symptoms that accompany it, that's okay, it doesn't make it any less real. Methods of surviving trauma/abuse become symptoms; anxiety, depression, dissociation, somatic symptoms and hypervigilance, and can become distressing when no longer utilized for survival. They can also manifest as people pleasing, unhealthy relationships, difficulty trusting others, setting boundaries, shame and avoidance. I am here to hold space for you and your healing.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a practice that focuses on young adults, adults, seniors, couples, veterans, and families. I am also a United States Army Combat Veteran, and a father who knows what it is like to put other people's needs before your own. It takes time, exploration, and effort to learn a new way of looking at yourself. It takes time to see what is on the other side of the coin.

I am a licensed psychologist specializing in working with ethnic minorities, survivors of trauma (specifically survivors of interpersonal trauma), and LGBTQIA+ individuals. I approach therapy from a multicultural, feminist, strength-based, and relational perspective. I will see you as a whole person with multiple (sometimes incompatible) identities. I aim to empower you to use your voice. Just like being in any other relationship, the therapist-client match is very important. Together, we will work together to address the issues you are coming in with by learning more about yourself and how you interact with others.

In addition to psychotherapy, I am approved by BBS to provide supervision to those on probation. Statement: Culture plays a large role in shaping our thinking and behavior. Unfortunately, its rigid standards do not prepare us to be adaptive in this diverse, multicultural world. We try to apply old lessons to new challenges, which may lead to frustration and self-doubt. My aim is to take the pressure of societal expectations off you so you feel good about yourself.

You're looking for a therapist because you know somethings not right. You struggle in your life, and you don't know why you do ... and it's been this way for a while. I'm 70 years old. I've been through it and I've done my own work and can help guide you to finding your true coherent self without the self-doubt, the depression, the anxiety and the dysfunctional relationships. When we are young, we are very susceptible to programming that shapes our self-image. The defeats that we had then are the defeats we feel now. Lifespan Integration therapy gets to the source of those conflicts that hold these untrue beliefs & reactions.

I enjoy working with individuals (18 or older) that are curious about themselves, reflective and who desire change. The therapeutic alliance or the relational 'good fit' stands out as the fundamental factor in effective treatment. I am interested in developmental issues in adults and addressing repetitive patterns that stand in the way of growth. My approach is psychoanalytic psychotherapy including attachment , mentalization and creativity based treatments.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists

What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.

How do therapists treat NPD?

By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.

Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?

Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.

How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?

It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
