I have been trained in psychoanalytic theory and I practice psychodynamic, transference-focused, interpersonal therapy.
It's hard to tell if a therapist will be a good fit for you solely based on a photo and blurb. If you are tired of feeling lost and confused, struggling with anxiety or depression, wondering about relationship issues, or questioning your future, I hope you reach out for a consultation call. My goal is to help you develop a more flexible, compassionate self-image. Together, we'll explore your patterns and break down inherited scripts of how your life should look. No matter what age you are, I'm here to help. My individualized support works for children as young as 3 years old, teens, and adults.

I believe relationships are our mirrors for self-understanding and growth. They can be our greatest teacher, and have the power to transform our lives for the better, or for the worse. What's more: our social landscape is changing and what we need from partnership is changing, as our culture changes. When your intimate relationships become a place of pain, grief, remorse and guilt, you may need help. As a seasoned couples and individual therapist, I am here to guide you, through loving reflection and direction. Skilled in both monogamy and non-monogamy, I am here to help. I also specialize in existential and spiritual matters.

Anger, anxiety, depression, shame, and challenges with self-identity are often rooted in unresolved trauma. When left unaddressed, trauma can deeply impact our relationships and family dynamics. As your therapist, my goal is to collaborate with you in managing trauma-related symptoms and moving toward a more meaningful, fulfilling life. I use a client-centered approach to create a safe and supportive space where unresolved emotions and reactions can be explored. I believe that the therapeutic relationship itself is just as important as the modality used because healing begins with trust, connection, and the freedom to be vulnerable.

I draw from the psychodynamic approach focusing on bringing the unconscious to the conscious to get to the root of the issue and explore defense mechanisms that have been adapted along the way.
I utilize various evidence-based practices including DBT, CBT, solution-focused, polyvagel theory, EMDR, and IFS to help clients gain awareness of what is happening in their inner world and learn ways to let go of the past. I can help you gain insight that challenges negative core beliefs and work towards breaking negative cycles of trauma.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
